Reason you are trading Woods is because the Devils might not qualify him. That doesn't change for a team that has less cap space than them. Deal would never work for the Leafs.

Personally, I think he’s resigning with NJ for less than his QO, but his upside if he’s healthy is 20 goals. High risk high reward situation, but I would replace him with pick/s or a bordering NHLer prospect (like Okhotiuk) if you think that’s more valuable.

I am 99% sure Wood gets qualifying offer. He is everything we need in our lineup. But I agree his trade value is likely peanuts right now. If he is dealt, it’s likely only at deadline after proving himself healthy again.
