I like that Toews trade for Calgary. I think works for both teams in this case.

Do you consider taking the Devils 2023 1st rounder unprotected over this years first? Wondering bc next years draft is considered stronger

Rangers PASS but counteroffer Adam Huska for Kane with 50% retention plus 2 years of 1st round picks. A bit of an overpay, but why not.

Nice deal. I'd would be interested in Regula or Slaggert. Slaggert has alot of energy.

“LOL no” first and foremost because the Devils are going to be good next year especially if they get DeBrincat.

I’m not sure we want to give up on Slags. He’s on the reserve list for a couple more years and we have guys in the minors that need to play or be moved.

Not a huge fan of getting rid of young assets for the rebuild, would rather give up a second or third instead for the cat deal.
Giving them a quality player with more term and less cost should absolutely net a late/mid first (not this years but maybe top 10 protected 2023 first).
Id maybe do that Rags trade but Rags fans will say no.
If we're taking on 16.5 million to help CGY resign their 2 superstars, and giving them an upgrade in Toews then we should be getting a first +.

I prefer a higher concentration of quality. Either Holtz + 2 OR 2+ 2023 1st + Prospect(s).

Yeah I’d probably just go Holtz and 2

Brannstrom, 39th OA pick in 2022 plus another 2nd to upgrade Zaitsev to Connor Murphy

I'm not saying this is bad but what is the due diligence on Murphy's concussions?

You say "Honestly not sure if im getting enough" but I wouldn't pay anything more than that IF Murphy is not risky regarding health

Brannstrom is a better piece than people think

I think people are overreacting to his concussions. I say this not to minimize what concussions can do to people (although the affect everyone differently), but I think if he was having a bad reaction to one then one of the Blackhawks beat would be reporting on it. The last news I heard was that he was good to go at the end of the season but they held him out for cautionary, prospect related reasons.

TBH that Zaitsev contract is really really bad and we probably don’t see eye to eye on Bran in terms of asset value.

Both Zaitsev and Murphy basically have the same AAV but Zaitsev has half the term (only 2 years vs 4)

Murphy is a massive upgrade I agree but you can't say there's no risk with Murphy as he turns 30 y/o next season and has concussion history

A trade like this can happen when one team wants to compete and the other one wants to rebuild. For that reason, the Hawks can afford the downgrade and the Sens need the upgrade

We are trying to gauge the difference in value between the 2 here

I am not sure what Murphy would be but Brannstrom and two 2nds is not a "light" package

It’s also not a knock your socks off package and I think it highly depends on what you see Brannstrom as.

Agreed but also Murphy value. This I am not sure exactly as I have not done specific research on that before
