Realistic Pastrnak Trades

Created by: JDHockey
Team: 2022-23 Boston Bruins
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 2, 2022
Published: Jun. 11, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
The belief is the Bruins and Pastrnak’s camp will work on extension in July. However, should they fail to reach an agreement, I think these are realistic trades to start the rebuild. Assume for this proposal that Pastrnak signs an extension.

What does the contract look like? Would have to be very cheap for many of these to be options.

The Ducks proposal seems significantly out of balance with a lot of the other ones.

I'd say the Detroit trade is fair value wise but Detroit is in no position to make a trade like that. They just have to many holes to fill before giving up 4 assets for Pasta.

I would do this if he came with a decent extension. But for 1 year of Pastrnak, it’s too much

I agree, might be an overpay from Anaheim standpoint. As long as McTavish is the centerpiece.

Instant San Jake decline. Top 6 center and top 4 puck moving defenseman prospects and two firsts is an overpayment unless Pasta comes with like an 8 year $4 aav. Just not happening

Key word is prospect. Sharks would be paying for proven talent, Bruins inherit all the risk. Any deal involving Pastrnak would need to start with Eklund or Bordeleau, so maybe these won’t be compatible trade partners.

I agree, might be an overpay from Anaheim standpoint. As long as McTavish is the centerpiece.

I was thinking it was an underpay compared to a lot of the others actually. At least it certainly feels like significantly less compared to the Ottawa, New Jersey and Columbus proposals.

Would you do the Sens trade if we replaced Boucher with Bernard-Docker or Kleven?

I honestly do not know enough about them to answer that. I would hope the Bruins would target forward prospects as their defensive pool is top heavy. But I totally understand wanting to keep Boucher, could be a quintessential power forward some day.

Sharks would do this if Pasta made us an instant contender. It won't. And the upside of Bordeleau is too enticing to move him.

Wings pass can't give up 2 top 10 picks especially in a draft like 2023. Can't see any team give up 2 firsts for pasta with 1 year left

Would Bobby Brink, Egor Zamula, 2022 1st, FLA 2024 1st, PHI 2023 3rd work? I really like the trade that you have, but just curious

I think if the Bruins weren’t in desperate need of a good center prospect then that counteroffer would absolutely work. Either way I think a Flyers team with Pastrnak and a new coach could make some noise !

That is a lot to ask from Ottawa. I'd prefer Shane Pinto, who is going to be what you THOUGHT you were getting in Studnicka, the 7th OA, the '23 2nd and JBD, Jarventie or White (with $1.75M retained).

Why would any of these teams make these trades? Pasta is one year rental and he doesn't help these significantly. I'm always amazed that fans think teams will trade for "their" upcoming UFAs. but are delighted when they can other teams UFAs for free.
That's a crazy assumption that an extension is signed (for another team)

Key word is prospect. Sharks would be paying for proven talent, Bruins inherit all the risk. Any deal involving Pastrnak would need to start with Eklund or Bordeleau, so maybe these won’t be compatible trade partners.

So are draft picks, what’s your point? That’s like 3/4 of the trades in the league. And Eklund or Bordeleau are a nonstarter for San Jose. Kinda like how Lysell is for all Boston fans

As much as it pains me to trade Pinto, this is too hard to not want this Top-9 :

                Tkachuk - Norris - Batherson
                Formenton - Stutzle - Pastrnak
                Joseph - White - Brown

Even better when Greig comes in and replaces White, then it would look :

                Tkachuk - Norris - Batherson
                Greig - Stutzle - Pastrnak
                Formenton - Joseph - Brown

Could eventually afford to trade Brown (then replaced by Joseph) and have Ostapchuk at #3 C

I would do this if he came with a decent extension. But for 1 year of Pastrnak, it’s too much

No way any team should trade a young player like Pinto and/or a 7th OA pick for any player who isn't going to be with them long term. This is a MUST
