With Murphy's concussion history and not coming back from that one in March. How about 41 and Laaksonen

Pretty sure he was ready to come back pretty quickly but it was so close to the end and the team was going nowhere so they just shut him down for the season.

I would still be cautious, he had 2 last year, with the one in December

You're allowed to be cautious so please don't take this like I'm being a jerk. I personally would be more comfortable with acquiring Murphy because they rushed him back and then said na, were out. It's not like he had a history of concussions. Just this year.

The trade to NYR for Kakko is interesting. But I think Chicago still wants more first picks or seconds for the top prize. Especially with the expectation that NYR will win the cup and pick last in every round.

thats quite a hefty price tag for strome. Smith is more likely than not to retire and dumping kassian shouldn't be difficult given the number of teams needing to hit the floor an still have a roster while tanking for bedard

I like Murphy, had him as one of my top 3 targets. With the game he plays, it's a yellow flag. If his medical's check I have no problem with 28

So to get a 35-goal winger…we need to give

    -- a 25-goal winger
-- top dman in Calder trophy race last year
-- a forward who was ppg in AHL
    -- a number 2 overall selection
    -- a likely top-50 pick in a loaded draft

Gosh. These are so far off.

Smith+Kassian are cap dumps. If EDM thinks they can get value elsewhere they don't have to be in the deal

Embrace Tom Fitzgerald picking at 2OA instead. That’s too much of an overlay to justify Cat

Great work downplaying what Debrincat is while using clever wording to prop up what all the Devils assets are (for the most part, not all). You should work in the media or something, great at spinning words around to spin things to fit your narrative. I can do that too:

So for the multi time 40+ goal scorer all the hawks get is:

    - 24 year old middle 6 winger
    - young d man who looked like a bust this year
    - injury prone B prospect
-#2 OA pick, but in a weaker draft class than normal
-mid/late 2nd round pick next year

I'd think something else would have to be coming back with Cat with that haul. Prospects. Most likely D man. Chicago has a abundant defensive pool.

Thinking more about Regula. Right hand shot. Think it would balance out the trade more

Devils definitely don't take this. I'd expect the Hawks to forgo Sharangovich in favor of a player who better fits their timeline and won't hurt their tank this coming year.

Calling this year's draft class weaker than normal is BS in my opinion, you're getting Cooley, Slaf, and a chance at Wright, all three of those players will be studs.

    My counter offer:
    - 2022 1st (2nd)
    - 2023 2nd, becomes a 1st if the Devils win a playoff series
    - Mukhamadullin or Okhotiuk (Devils FO seems to be high on Smith rebounding)
    - Thompson
    - Johnsson or Tatar

Devils receive a 2022 3rd in addition to DeBrincat.

like I said smith probably retiring so theres no caphit there and kassian is only a 3.2 hit with just 2.3 in actual dollars so these a moveable dumps for cheap. only 2.3 in real dollars for a middle 6 guy under contract fits the yotes MO to a tee.

Moving klefboms contract is where the oilers could've been forced to be creative but the bishop deal limits the sweetener that teams will get in that kind of deal. JP and a 3rd/4th for strome I think is about right
