Bruins off-season and next year

Created by: ZROSENTHAL33
Team: 2022-23 Boston Bruins
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 12, 2022
Published: Jun. 12, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
If the bruins would just agree to fix the roster now they would have a legitimate shot at rebounding back to an elite team in 2 years. If they continue to go for it, they are only pushing it back and wasting time.

1st they need to trade Reilly and debrusk for picks. Islanders get a desperately needed defenseman and Seattle gets a goal scoring talent they desperately need for 2 late 2nd rounders. These trades allow Boston to draft some talent. Grab a center with their top pick and then draft best player available. They could use some defensive prospects in their system also because they only have lohrei.

Next you need a decision from Bergeron. I honestly don’t know at this point, and it shouldn’t really matter what he chooses. Back or not, this team will be bad and needs to be bad which makes me lean towards him calling it a career.
Until December when Gryz Marchy and Mcavoy are all healthy, the bruins should be in the bottom 5 of the league given how bad this roster is, by the time the season is all over they’ll likely be in the bottom 10 of the league. Draft another high end elite center and maybe even try to trade the 2024 1st rounder into the 23 1st round to accelerate the rebuild. These players plus those drafted in 2022 should have the bruins on the right path. The bruins will have 5-6 1st and 2nd round draft talents + a year or two of development from Lysell Lohrei Beecher McLaughlin Merkulov and Swayman.
The new picks will need a few years to develop but after that the bruins will be in a strong position with a young elite number 1 goalie in sway, a young elite defenseman in mcavyoy with a solid core of defenders and a rising offense led by Marchy (declining a lot) and Pasta with a huge influx of young draft talent.

So, this is all based on what ifs and the assumption that Pasta actually resigns or isn’t traded and Bergeron doesn’t retire. If Bergeron doesn’t retire, the Bruins would have to make one final attempt. One way or another, the Bruins will rebuild within the next 2 years.

I’m pretty confident pasta will resign the bruins just need to sell him on direction even if that direction is retool for 2 years. If pasta says he wants out this team has no choice other then a full tear down. The bruins should not base next years competitiveness on Bergeron. Whether he chooses to return or not the team will not be competitive enough to make a deep run. Which is why he likely retires now
