Pool, Bear, Hague

Fiala as a bigger target, Marchment in UFA

I'd target these guys with the assets you mentioned.

Puljujarvi - maybe. Does he add more than what Zetterlund can become? I get it that he is great third piece on top line. Creates space, digs puck out of corner, carries size and skill. He is good, I’m just not gaga for him.

Bear - probably pass on him. Skating is not there like many thought it was.

Hague - sure, maybe, but does he provide higher ceiling than all the guys we have lined up?

Fiala - depends on the price

Marchment - around $3.5m x 3 maybe. But he probably gets more. I don’t think he would be top-6 player here.

All of these guys, save Fiala, are okay players on good teams. So I am guessing you are an advanced stats guy? Don’t put too much stock into on-ice stats.

Likewise. We have only seen Holtz for handful of games as role player in non-offensive situations (except for last couple games). He still has three years of ELC remaining. No idea why some are so quick to trade him.

Yeah def a stat guy.

It’s less on-ice and more the isolated stuff like RAPM and WAR. Bear has the track record, Hague has the potential, Puljujarvi has the track record.

Puljujarvi def has more potential than Zetterlund and Hague/Bear don’t need to have more upside than what we have (though I think they likely do) - they can be attempts to replace Graves/Subban/Smith/Severson

Marchment also should be cheaper. Even if he’s a quarter the player he was this year he’d be a steal at 2.5ish

Best teams in the league are analytics teams

Marchment at $2.5m maybe, but have seen him in 4’s on here, which I think would be a mistake for cap-conscious teams.

Hague may be good. And fits Fitzyplan.

I am quite bearish on Bear though. 6/7 dman in my view.

But the point of the post was really to show team without any big deals (they will likely make some).

For sure. I think they should make smaller ones! Like Puljujarvi and Hague lol

I think both are very realistic targets, are probably at least somewhat available, and aren’t going to cost a big part of future.

Others I like: Kunin, Barbashev, Crouse as potential bottom-sixers. Have always felt their impact in those roles was noticeable and have some offensive skill too.

Pettersson is a LHD I think is underrated too and was the guy I wanted before Siegenthaler came along. He is big, mobile, and does well on d-zone exits (via pass).

Hate Kunin but the other two are fine/good cost dependent
