It's still very expensive for both. They're still just 21 years old.

Speaking for Kakko- probably way more than MTL would be willing to part with.

There is a notion out there that Kakko is a struggling prospect- and if you look at his G and A stats it's easy to come to that conclusion. That he was a healthy scratch for Game 6 you do have to question where he stands in the eyes of the org. But reality is Kakko is developing nicely. He might never be a big "production" guy- but he is very strong along the boards and real good defensively. NYR would be wise to hold onto him tightly. So unless blown away by a crazy overpay- which includes a C w/ top6 future- NYR shouldn't consider moving him.

Way more than what you're willing to part with, just because it's Montreal.

Don't think any team which looks to be in next year's lottery will look to offer sheet any RFA which will require them to give up their lottery ticket. If the comp is just a 2nd- that offer gets matched...and then MTL has to face pay back down the line. JG not doing that.

Your Calgary pick definitely won't get Dach, also the only reason Carolina got away with that OS is because Montreal cap strapped themselves with the Hoffman deal

Yep, agree 100%

1. Blackhawks are looking to rebuild.
2. Dach is a young, top-shelf prospect. Yes, he had an off-year, but he has size and for his size decent puck handling. If he can put it together, he'll be a decent nhler in the future (maybe not a center, but still).
3. Davidson (Blackhawks GM) has made it very clear that though he's willing to move on from players from the team, it will be at a price he deems fair, not a price others deem fair. You can look at the Hagle deal at the TDL, but the deal people tend to miss is the deals that didn't happen, one being Dehan. Teams were calling on him, but the deals they were offering weren't what he felt were fair, so instead of dealing him for a sub-optimal return, he decided to hold on to the UFA, saying he basically felt the value the expiring Dehan brought to the team exceeded the value teams were offering.

So for the Habs (or anyone) to get Dach, they'll need to put forth an offer that will meet or exceed the perceived value of Dach by the Hawks. I would think a first and a second would be a starting point. I believe other teams have expressed interest in Dach, which would ultimately drive his price up if there were a bidding war.

If you want an indication on value, I wouldn't swap Kakko for Caufield straight up.

Kakko's already a top tier defensive F in the league and massively underutilized at the same time. No idea what the organization thinks of him, but all the talent is still there.

I’m sure Dach would be along the lines of calgarys first, a young Dman like Harris, norlinder, struble, plus another sweetener depending on the prospect going back. Kakko will be much more but scratching him in an elimination game is rough

This has to be a troll comment, Sagetroll if you will. Im taking the kid with who scored as many goals in one season that kakko has in three years.

Sure that's cool. Value's been pretty close over the last couple seasons, Caufield with the advantage offensively, Kakko with the major advantage defensively.
