Arizona will be paying for Weber's contract, not MTL paying them to take it. They want to save money, Weber's contract is the best way to do it so they'll likely have to give up a late pick to take it on.

As a habs fan I hope so, but I'll air on the side of caution

Agreed. There's two sides to it-It's extremely beneficial for Montreal to get out of LTIR-land, while Arizona could use the help to get to the floor.

Ben Bishop to the Sabres the other day seems like a good benchmark to put on it though-Dallas gave up a 7th for future considerations. Considering the Stars weren't in LTIR-land, the only benefit was getting some money off the books.

Actually the price seems to be a 2nd rounder and possible even better if the insurance claim gets approved so it'll be even less actual cash

He's only owed 6 million in the next four seasons, if it's gets to be insured and is just a free cap hit I could see that price going up for sure

Chychrun isn't worth that. Arizonia can want that but its a pipe dream.

They already asked that much during the trade deadline and everyone passed and that's when they were in the hunt. Now during the offseason you can expect less as there are more options available. No one is wanting to overpay on a 24 year old D man that has yet to play a full season in the NHL.

If you think AZ is gonna pay to take on Cap space, you're clearly out of your mind. They will have no problem hitting the floor, and there are plenty of other teams looking to dump cap space and will pay to do so.

Difference is real dollars vs cap hit. Weber's contract has the least amount of real money compared to cap hit. Add the fact that the money owed might be covered by insurance then Arizona gets an even bigger savings.

Unfortunately for Arizona fans the business side is going to be a key factor in hockey deals moving forward and the best way to save money and hit the floor is Weber
