That Chicago trade is rough. LA should not do that.

This is spectacularly awful. What in the world is that CHI trade? And that’s not even the worst one. The odds of COL trading a 1st rd pick for that pile of junk is on par with me entering and winning the Kentucky derby running as a horse.

I think OTT would take this trade if they are not gonna commit to Branstromm in the 2nd pairing more. The Return is good prospects and the 1st is value at what is it 17th OA.

That Chicago trade thou, ouch. Your selling way way too low on Byfield. I know it has been slow for him to put up numbers last year, but he is a future 1C when Kopitar retires and that isn't worth Debrinkcat now, and then the first as well. Horrible trade for the KIngs.

Hawks decline. Kempe doesn't make sense for the rebuild, Byfield has an injury problem, and seeing as the Kings made the playoffs this year and have the best prospect pool in the league that 1st round draft pick will probably be in the later half of the 1st round.

I've seen a ton of Devils fans offer Holtz and 2nd overall as a start, I think fans would rather have that. Kempe is older than DeBrincat and will probably be in his 30s by the time the hawks are contenders again. I'd rather have Holtz and Slafkovsky/Cooley over Byfield who cant stay healthy and a 30+ year old Kempe. It's about other offers rather than just the package itself.

Vilardi for Sandin is iffy. The idea that Los Angeles would add a second is ridiculous.

The Brannstrom trade is much worse. His value is the first-round pick; the idea that you would get Clarke even up for him is insane.

The Chicago trade makes no sense for the Kings, either. DeBrincat is undeniably an upgrade (but an expensive one) on Kempe, but not worth the cost of Byfield and the first.

And the idea that canny Joe Sakic would trade a first for two prospects who weren't even chosen in the first round and haven't done much since is unrealistic.

Lol I'd probably take a 2nd for Brannstrom at this point. Brandt Clarke alone has way more value than him.

Yah, I forgot about him after last year's draft, local boy comes home and plays with Sanderson for 10 years. That would be nice.
Doubt LA is willing to give him up thou, but I would 100% do that straight up for Branstrom.

I liked the trade. Sandin is an nhl defencemen ready for top 4 minutes and vilardi is interesting but hasn't hit his stride yet at the nhl level. I figure he will be moved to the wing as I'm not sure he will be able to make it as a centre. Certainly not right away.

A 2nd might be a bit rich. I would be willing to do a 3rd this year and the later of the two 3rds you have in 23. Or maybe Toronto adds a forward prospect to the deal kings have benefited so far from young players that didn't fit in Toronto.

But I guess the whole thing hinges on the keafs long term plan. Personally I would keep Sandin. But this trade made me think about it.

Byfield was injured once this year and that was in pre season. What are you talking about. He was also being sheltered on 3rd/4th lines when playing. He’ll be fine.

You assessment of Cooley/slaf might be true. Time will only tell. People need to replace on byfield. He’s still learning to play against men and guys who are more like his size then playing against kids in junior who he towered over and has no legit reason to use his size unless he needed to.

Oh, he’s also 19

Yeah it’s too early to tell on him. I like his size but need to see more. Interesting trade. I don’t know that Kempe would sell the deal maybe a different piece?
