Rangers Side of the Mega Deal AGM

Created by: rednwhite
Team: 2022-23 New York Rangers
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 13, 2022
Published: Jun. 13, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Wanted to see what the Rangers cap situation would look like if they accepted the trade I proposed in my other AGM "Mega Deal". The trade is highly unlikely but the Rangers now have some room for the upcoming extensions for their RFA's and have 7 million to add short term UFA's for 23/24.

very win now for the rangers. but does give them cap flexibility going forward with troubas 8m off the books. I think the Zadina/Kakko swap is a mistake, but you probably have to make up for the rest of the package. Zadina is another perimeter player that will be decent in the regular season but bad in the playoffs.

Detroit doesn't need Trouba and he isn't waiving his NMC. Until Kelly is done with her residency so maybe next off season. Detroit isn't moving Bertuzzi unless a bonafide 2C is coming back and Chytil isn't there yet.

Disagree. Trouba is exactly what Detroit needs. Veteran D that can provide leadership and is hard to play against. He drastically improves the back end. Chytil is a good option at 2 C, not great but the 1st rounder makes it worth it. Zadina and Kakko is essentially an equal swap.

Trouba does not fit the Wings timeline. He’s a good player, homegrown and was a Wings fan back in the day, but he’ll be out of his prime by the time the Wings are in playoff contention again. Rather the Wings trade Bert for futures if he is traded.

Ok then we disagree an $8M 2nd pair dman isn't what Detroit needs and Chytil has done nothing to prove he is a bonafide 2C, if he was NYR wouldn't need to resign Copp. Plus Trouba isn't waiving yet.

It's hard to see DET paying $8M/season for Trouba to be the #3 Dman (he's not overtaking Seider). It would have to be more like $5.5-6M/season. Having a RHD deployment of Seider/Trouba/Hronek would be very solid.

But, DET isn't trading Bertuzzi for Trouba. If you consider the trade to be Kappo for Zadina, and Bert and Sundqvist for Trouba, Chytil, and a 1st, that's still not great value for Bert (based on the money coming back and the age of Trouba). DET isn't going to get older trading Bertuzzi without some type of overpayment.

Trouba is only a year older then Bertuzzi. Bert has had back issues as well. I would hardly say that's getting older.

Disagree. He is only 28. He likely has another 5 good years in his prime. He reminds me of McDonaugh, look at what he is doing for Tampa at 33. Wings should be ready to contend by 23/24. Also Bert was moved for Trouba, Chytil and a 1st. Those are futures....

If we could then turn around and trade Hronek as part of a package for a legit 1C/2C then I would be game. I am not opposed to Trouba, but not a good fit without additional moves, unless Hronek has been working on playing better on the left side.

Did you watch the 2nd half of the season? This team is farrrr from Stanley Cup contention, no way they are ready to contend in 23/24. Bubble team potentially yes. Stevie preached patience and more patience is needed…

Let me rephrase futures to better futures. And Trouba is a now option not a future, plus he’s a RHD, Wings need LHD… Much rather see Bert packaged for 2OA pick.
