Right?! OEL would think he's in a Groundhog Day fever dream of perpetual rebuilding.

I'm more excited about the ceiling of Grans and Kupari than the established floor of Garland. No deal.

Wright is gonna be better than Petterson. Same point totals but way better defence. And then the Habs gotta add more?

I mean, you're clearing out $9M worth of Brendan Gallagher and Paul Byron, plus a late 2nd. It's not the worst proposal I've seen around here for a top 5 pick.

They add more for the black hole of Gallagher's contract.

They do?
I get dumping Byron and gally but they’re leadership that the team is slightly lacking after the departure of Weber and chiarot, and possibly price

byron has 1 year left and gallagher is still a quality player. Still in the 97th percentile for 5v5 offence. Just was super unlucky finishing and played with Hoffman. Id rather keep him, let him score 25 goals and trade him for valuable assets

i know this is not realistic but having picks 1,2,6,7,9 and not taking 1 of Nemec/Jiricek would be crazy imo...give me Wright, Nemec, Savoie, Kemell, Lekkerimaki

Yeah, I debated taking Nemec at #2, but then figured I'd grab at least a couple good Dmen later on in the 1st.

I'm not convinced Wright is going to be better than Pettersson. The latter is already a proven 1C and even after a down year he's a career 0.90 P/GP and is no defensive liability. Shedding all 5 years of Gallagher at its full cap hit in the process heavily favors the Canadiens.

Not taking this deal is a massive, massive vote of confidence in Wright.

Leadership can be had without a $6.5x5 cap hit. I mean, Corey Perry is signed at just $1M. I do love Gally and I think he still has some solid years left, but that contract is a killer in the future. I wouldn't pay to dump Gallagher straight up, but in a #1oa-Pettersson swap, definitely.

How about 2oa and Smith for Demko instead and Canucks don't have to take on that Murray contract

VAN is not rebuilding. Pettersson, Hughes, Demko, Horvat are the core they will build around. Podkolzin and Hoglander also fit JR vision. Boeser is most likely coming back to VAN..

38th percentile for 5v5 defence is not good. Wright is already a better defender and should be at minimum at the .90 ppg that Pettersson is at

It's not "good" but it's not a liability for a 1C. Wright may be better defensively at his peak, but again .90 P/GP is massive expectations for Wright.

This was fun and exactly why websites like this are fun and we can look at reality and make up ridiculous situations. But man, if the Canucks did this, heads are rolling in the front office and fans are burning jerseys.

Dang, Montreal runs away with this. Get the higher potential center and get rid of 2 bad contracts (one for 5 years!)

Quoting: csick
Ottawa accepts

Both teams shouldn't do that

Having Demko would be great but a Top-6 Winger and a Top-4 RHD are more pressing needs

Plus, the Sens have Forsberg, Gustavsson and Sogaard. Demko would mean both Forsberg and Sogaard will have to be traded.

I guess Vancouver do it because this ACGM looks like a total rebuild, might as well go all in on lottery picks

I'm not even a Nucks fans but I would participate in this just by solidarity

Nobody deserves to be Benninged a second time in a row, even the worst criminals.

We have been Dorionized for years so Sens fans can truly understand
