The Leafs adding a sweetener makes zero sense in this scenario. If anything, it should be reversed.

Canes pass. Absolutely no need for Muzzin and no place to put him in the top 4 either. Canes also aren’t paying to take Muzzin and his luggage. The Leafs can deal with the consequences of that contract.

God no. You can have Bear for like a 3rd, but you can keep that awful Muzzin deal. No one in their right mind is paying to take on that anchor

Retain half on Brodie and take back Zucker and the pens will make that trade. Otherwise they aren't giving up assets for a cap dump. They already have 5 nhl ready left shot D.
Canes hang up and block your number.

Bro brodie isn't that bad plus ur gonna need him since letang is probably gone. if anything u guys would need to give up more for him. Zucker is a perfect example of a cap dump brodie would easily fit into ur top 4

Muzzin's contract isn't that bad plus I think brady skjei is worse than him if anything, skjei's contract is terrible

You have clearly never watched Skjei play in a Canes jersey. Skjei is easily better and is a hell of a lot less injury prone. His contract is not ideal given the Canes cap circumstances, but he would easily be 1LD on at least half the teams in the league. Muzzin’s contract is a lot worse since the likelihood of him playing a full season is incredibly low, and 5 mil is a lot to have on the bottom pairing. So no, the Canes have no interest in Muzzin, and will not pay for the privilege of dealing with his injury problems.

Skjei would not be a 1LD on half the league maybe two team which would probably detroit and maybe Chicago unless chicago has de haan then only detroit. not to mention this year was skjei first full season since 2017-2018. also, u guys are paying Gardiner 4.4 as a bottom pairing so im failing to see the issue with this. honestly most of the league would probably have him on their 3rd and some teams would have him as a scratch

Brodie is far far far from a cap dump, he is the Leafs best defenseman. Toronto doesnt even consider the trade from OP

I would say Skjei is a good second pair guy. I wouldn’t categorize him as a first pair lefty d man but it depends on who he is playing with.

Brodie is a good player agreed. He isn’t a cap dump candidate so I think the other fan is confusing him with Muzzin.
