You lost the first 3 trades in a big way. You can't expect to build a better team when you bleed value like that.

I agree the first trade is an overpay for Pionk. But he is the exact kind of dman the oilers need on RHD, he is still young and has 3 yrs left on a decent contract. Sometimes over paying is necessary to get a piece that fits. Plus the 1rst rnd pick is late in a not very deep draft yr.

Id rather take this trade for Barrie than just getting a 2nd rnd pick for him. I think Evans is underrated for a bottom 6 player, young and signed to a very team friendly deal, I doubt montreal would even do this tbh, I think Marty is high on Evans.

Yes Foegle is a much better player than Fischer, but with Holloway most likely coming in full time next yr, why keep Foegle around and pay him that much to play 4th line minutes?? Maybe they could trade him elsewhere for a 3rd rnd pick, but are picks really that important when they are trying to be in win now mode?? Also giving up a better player in this trade to Arizona helps entice them to take Smith.

Not really going to comment on the trade values more then I think the oilers are paying more than necessary in all scenarios.

That said, that blue line is significantly improved. But I don’t think you’re getting Keith on LTIretirement.

Habs dont move evans for barrie straight up and certainly dont add a pick. Evans is on a terrific contract and one of our best penalty killers while still contributing offensively and Barrie will need a new deal before habs are ready to compete again.

I agree dude, i like evans alot. And i have done this barrie trade before and always get **** on by Oilers fans who seem to think Barrie is going to get a big return. Im not even a Barrie hater or anything, i think he has value in a trade and isnt the "cap dump" that alot of haters say he is, but Barrie for Evans would be a win for the Oilers in my mind.

Barrie for sure isnt a cap dump, but all of his upside is on the offensive side. I think Pens could be interested if Letang ends up leaving. I do agree with the intent Oilers need to strengthen their bottom 6.

I don't think any of the last 3 trades are realistic.

Montreal isn't going to trade Evans for Barrie. They might be open to acquiring him if Petry is traded, but I think the value of PP specialist that usually plays with elite PP players who needs to be sheltered 5 on 5 is not what you think it is.

I don't think Arizona is getting enough value in that Smith deal given the demand for their cap space.

Anaheim definitely isn't getting enough value for eating Kassian's contract. For context, Seravalli was musing on Toronto radio that, based on demand for moving contracts, it would probably cost Toronto at least a 1st to move off of Mrazek. Kassian isn't quite that expensive, but he's not that far off. Getting a 35 year old 4th liner and a late 3rd is not really close to making sense for the Ducks.

The Kulak, Husso and Kane contracts are also all light.
