Isles trade

Created by: KentMcNally
Team: 2022-23 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 14, 2022
Published: Jun. 14, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Maybe Noah Dobson signs a longer term deal for $6M X 5-7 years, leaving NYI with $6M in cap (unless they make other trades to get more cap space). They are looking for offence (I think) to try to make a deep run in the playoffs, especially with NYR looking good for years to come.
Would Montreal have to add much to the trade for the #13 pick? Is this too much from Montreal for a mid-round pick that may not pan out?

I don’t hate Petry, but Drouin isn’t of much interest and we desperately need to inject some upside into our prospect pool. Would rather just keep 13 and find a Petry-caliber player in a trade or free agency

Petry does nothing for NYI considering pulock dobson and mayfield not to mention paying 3+ million for a guy to play 3rd paur is terrible cap management.
As for drouin isles dont really have much use for him. They already have too many middle 6 forwards they need impact players. And that same idea applues to the pick dowmgrade. The NYI pick you draft a potential impact forward, with the CGY pick youre talking about a potential middle 6 forward (which is logjammed and probably will be for the next few years) or maybe miroshnichenko who has his own issues.

OK, fair enough. i would like for Montreal to move up to around where the Islanders are in the draft, but it does not look like they would be able to package anything at all with the Calgary pick to go to the Islanders that the Islanders would want.
