This seems like a very CAR type move, but I don't know how DET fans feel about the assets, although the few I saw thinking that Bertuzzi was worth the 2OA won't find much deserving.

You can't have a condition base on a player resigning.

However, this is very much not a Canes move. Bert is a UFA on an expiring deal, and without the draft capital depending on signing extension (since not possible any longer as pointed out), you are basically giving up three team controlled assets for 1 year of Bert.

That is the very definition of a non-Canes move.

I like Necas and think he would be the main piece in the trade. But I think Drury would have to be added as well. Necas, Drury and a first for an extended Bertuzzi. We have no reason to trade him and both him and Yzerman have expressed interest in signing an extension as soon as possible.

Straight up for 2OA!? Some people straight goofin on here. He doesn’t even have an extension yet and 100% would need to be packaged for even a shot at the 2OA.

I like the idea, but I don't like the price. A 1st, Necas and Bear could get you talking about a guy like Nylander. Bertuzzi and Nylander are obviously very different, but you can get a guy with multiple years, not a rental. If you take out Gunler and drop the pick to maybe a 3rd or a 4th, sure? But as it's set... I don't like this for Carolina.

I do like Necas but Gunler is a winger and with the wingers Detroit has he really doesn't move the needle very much. With Detroit's LHD prospects they are only looking for a stop gap to let a couple of them develop. Bear and Gunler are both good players but they don't fill any needs so it's basically Necas for Bertuzzi and I don't see that happening. I get that he is a UFA but Detroit resigning him won't be a problem at all.

Pass Canes would just wait for him to UFA or not at all.

Bertuzzi is another aging power forward with injury problems that is destined to turn into another Ferland.

Personally I think bertuzzi retained for Necas and a first - which is a late first - this year is fair. If Carolina wants to the resign him they have the rights to, and if he fits the team well and it’s competitive he will stay.

Bertuzzi is a 30 goal scorer that plays with grit and is a takeaway machine that PKs and gives his all every night. Playoff Carolina would love to have him for 2.4m for the year. And then he could play a significant role for several years to come if signed.

Not personally super high on bear and gunler so I’d rather the pick. I really like Necas, but I think the 1st would be necessary to get it done even with him - he’s certainly no 30 goal scorer (and bert has scored 20+ every healthy season for a while now). Possibly send a third or something back Carolina’s way along with retained bert.
