Whats the point of bringing in Debrincat and Fiala if youre just going to blow up you Goalie position anyway?

NYR add.. there’s no way ANA is paying as much as a 7th to negotiate with a bust..

Trading for DeBrusk in Fiala makes the Gibson trade obsolete and also a Bedard draft 1st for a 3rd line d man makes no sense

Also the 3 of Dostal, Zellweger and Pastujov very likely won’t be ready to play full time with the big club

Gibson GSAx and SV% the last three years:
-14.3/0.904
-7.4/0.903
-18/0.904

Cap hit of 6M for the next 5 years

How is this worth the 2nd overall pick? How is this worth a top 100 pick?
Devil liked this.

MN likely declines. If Sens offer a package around 7OA, this offer doesn’t beat that.

Ok I keep seeing all these trades for Debrincat and Fiala and it boggles my mind that Debrincat commands so much more than Fiala. I will say Debrincat is a very good player probably better then Fiala but I wouldn't think he is so much better that he gets a higher 1st rounder plus a 2nd and two more decent prospects more than Fiala. I dont know....I am sure people will rip the hell out of me for this but whatever...

It's because the Wild may not have the cap space to re-sign Fiala or might want to trade him, so they're kind of in a spot. Or he could be offer-sheeted although unlikely with the salary he'll probably be asking for. With the hawks, they don't want to trade DeBrincat necessarily, but are listening to offers the same way they did Hagel. Only accepting a trade if the offer really "wows" them. Also he wont be an rfa until next summer, so the team wouldn't be in a spot right away like the Wild are.
