Carolina would probably not pay that for Bertuzzi

In recent years Carolina hasn't gone for rentals much and if they do its not at a high cost

Can't see this happening, especially for that much (Carolina also doesn't need retention)

I’ve been trying my crack at a bert vs Necas+ trade and people’s valuations are all over the place.

Wings fans expect at least Necas and a first, esp with retention, canes fans say he’s not worth Necas + a second to them.

Despite the value of a 30 goal guy at 2m, I think the trade here is probably overvaluing bert and would remove drury.

Canes view Drury as future Jordan Staal replacement. Necas + for any asset not under contract for longer than this season will not happen. Oh, and a first?

Canes manage assets too closely to give this much for a guy who likely walks after a year.

For the record. Nathan Mackinnon would get a lot more than Necas, Drury and a late first. Not a very smart comparison.

This is fair. The asking price is high but the offer is a 30 goal grinding winger for 2.3m which would help out Carolina significantly and is the main draw here. Without retention Bertuzzi isn't worth this much and I don't think Carolina would make the deal anyway. Carolina's 1st isn't as valuable as Canes fans think. People see the word 1st and think they're trading away the next potential superstar. It's basically like an early 2nd in terms of prospect talent. There's a big gap in quality from a top 10 pick and a 24-32 pick. I'd be willing to replace Drury with somebody or something else. Rees or another pick...3rd? Put the asking price high and settle somewhere in the middle. As for Detroit, I'd be really intrigued to have Zadina, Necas and Vrana on a line together. The Czech line could be very good together.

I love Bert too but I think people have him overvalued a bit. He's a rental plus the whole vax thing, back issues and hes been a pain in the ass to extend every time. I'd love a necas For Bert deal but I don't think they're value is much different. Bert and a 3rd for Necas and a 2nd might be my guess

I just looked into it and Bertuzzi still must quarantine 14 days from entering CAN. The biggest change is that someone can travel domestically within CAN without needing to quarantine or be vaccinated from place to place.

Yah.

You wouldn’t get Necas alone 1yr of Bertuzzi, much less Drury + a 1st. Time to go back to lala land.

I think you undervalue him. But maybe I'm wrong because Yzerman would never be able to trade a power forward for a comparable player plus a 1st and a 2nd...
