I don't think we'd get Muzzin off waivers, by the end of this off season we likely wouldn't have room for him.

I’d say yes except Kerfoot is 1 year away from UFA & Puljujarvi is under contract for up to 10 more years for the Oilers (2 more RFA years followed by 8 UFA years)
    So no.

Better 5v5 scoring rate than every Oiler not named McDavid or Draisaitl last season. I thought that's what you guys are running JP out of town over?

Kerfoot has been better than puljujarvi, sure Kerfoot is a UFA at the end of the season (we also retained here to make him affordable) and based on Evolving hockey predictions the Oil can't afford puljujarvi. I don't mind this trade for either team (I know the oiler fans are still hung up on puljujarvi draft position get over it he's 25 and could certainly use a change of scenery

Correct & the Oilers can sign him for two more RFA years until they have to use 8 years of UFA years.

    10 years of contractual use.

By that logic the Oilers are acquiring 9 years of "contractual use" in Kerfoot.

Fair enough. In any case, I'm quite sure he'd be claimed by somebody.

Some good points but that’s not how it works in real life.
A GM doesn’t trade a player who’s young and developing for a rental unless it pushes that team over the top, the main issue is contractual years. then It’s a terrible trade for the Oilers.

Trading JP for Kefoot he’s Oilers one year of Kefoot and T.O - 9years.

Tell me where Oilers get 9 in Kerfoot..

Oh, and Chicago isn’t taking Mrazk so yo can dump 5M to make your numbers work for a 2nd round pick.
    That’s not happening either.

The Oilers traded 1st overall pick Nail Yakupov at 23 years old for a prospect who never saw NHL ice and a 3rd pick, it happens and Yaks #s at that time were very similar to Puljujarvi

He's a capable middle-six forward who can facilitate for big scorers and kill penalties. Sounds like a nice fit for Edmonton, particularly at $1.75M

Yes but McDavid had 123 points and Draisaitl had 110 points and one of them was involved in about 75% of the points JP did score.

If you want to judge every player by their worst play of the season, there's probably a better place to do that than this comment section.

Honestly though, and I’ve said I would take Kerfoot, the only was as a GM you do this trade if Kerfoot does a sign and trade. If not you can’t trade a player on hope.

Yes, please explain to me a trade where
Puljujarvi has at least 9 year of contractual years for a player in his final year of his contract?

Tell me what happens if the Oilers make this trade and Kefoot walks at the end of this year and you end up with 8 more years of Puljujarvi and the Oilers are holding there dicks?

Explain the contractual obligation of Kefoot to the Oilers cause I’m confused.

Puljujarvi is a UFA in 2 years and Kerfoot is a UFA in 1 year. Those are the only relevant "contractual obligations" here. I have no idea why you are assuming Puljujarvi signs an 8-year extension in Summer '24 instead of walking into UFA but that's the mistake you're making.

    I’m done, you’re an idiot.

JP has 2 years of RFA left you’re guaranteed an extension even if you bridge him one year you still retain control of the player. Kefoot is a UFA after this YEAR!!! Let’s say he plays with Draisaitl and score 60 points what are the odds Oilers can afford or what guarantee he resigns? There isn’t, zero.

Where done with this ridiculous conversation, you’re wrong it’s a terrible trade now f—k off.
