What’s the rationale behind that Ottawa trade? They end up taking on more money for an equally trash player and no compensation for doing so

Islanders have no interest in Jake Muzzin, because he is injury prone and overpaid. Muzzin also has a full NTC so he will veto the trade.

Hang on a second. Murray isn’t as terrible as Mrazek is.

Yeah that’s fair. He has shown flashes in Ottawa. So that makes this trade even worse!!

Let me help, in order of the trades:

Isles say no, Muzzin says no, Sens say no, Leafs say no, leafs say no, I guess the Edmonton trade is close to fair. Not sure if keafs want to move a first for him.

What I really don't understand is the logic behind the Hawks trade. "Rather than sign him cheaper and for zero assets here is our 50 point forward for absolutely no reason"

It's either they retain 50%, or buy him out. I don't see the Sens keeping his 6M on the cap in 3-4 years when Sens will be trying to contend.

Muzzin return is insignificant. Whether he gets dealt for a 3rd or 5th doesn't really matter. I just figured NYI cause he's a Lou type player and the Isles aren't exactly stacked on the left side.

You have to give up an asset to get rid of Muzzin.

The islanders don’t want Muzzin cause he has a terrible contract and is injury prone.

"Elliotte Friedman on the Jeff Marek Show says one player that is being talked about right now who may go unqualified is Dylan Strome."

Hawks aren't not qualifying Strome. He's staying with the team unless they want to trade him in a hockey deal that helps the rebuild.

That could be, I find his value fairly neutral. Something insignificant either going with him or for him. The real issue is where will he let you trade him. That could make him more expensive to move.

Murray’s contract is done in 2 years though. Same as Mrazek.

It doesn’t matter where and how Muzzin fits, he’s not waiving for the islanders.

If his value was neutral you couldn’t get a pick and you would have to take back salary. This trade does neither. That being said there isn’t a single player on the isles u would swap for Muzzin.

I have less than 0 interest than Muzzin. Idk why anyone thinks he has value, because it’s just not true.

Sorry that first sentence is like staring into the sun. They could certainly retain on him and try to move him for something small. Right now I'd say it's 50/50 whether they qualify him or not.

He might waive for NY, but NY would have to be morons to want him.

It’s 100% guaranteed that he is qualified. Anyone who reported otherwise was desperate for clicks.

He won’t be retained on cause he is an RFA. That being said he’s worth way more than Kerfoot, because he’s a way better player.

Most I'd want to give out for Muzzin is a 4th, and that's only if Carson Soucy/Mike Reilly/Vince Dunn/Gustav Forsling/Travis Sanheim/Alec Martinez/Dmitry Kulikov (am I forgetting anyone?) are all out of the running to be LD2.

I strongly believe Muzzin doesn't waive, though.

Sens start with 6.25m murray and end up with 6.925m mrazek. There is zero reason to do this.

Most I am willing to give you for Muzzin is Richard Panik. But I also want a prospect and a pick to take him.
