You might get a 3rd with Mrazek for future considerations, but not a 1st

No way a 3rd. Maybe a 2nd but I think that’s the lowest. It’s 2 years at 3.8M. Not 1 year….

If the price to move him is a first they will just buy him out or roll into this season and wait for his LBI and place him on LTIR.

Good, do that. Hope you don't need to sign a starting goaltender, a backup goaltender, 2 defensemen and 4 forwards or something. But hey, at least you'll have a whole 6.8 million to do it with...

I'd take on Mrazek for two 2nds (which TOR don't have) or if Steeves and Abruzzese was added.

If a Toronto 1st or 2 2nd rd picks Detroit accepts. I doubt Mrazek is a Wing next season. Toronto isn't going to give up a 1st or even 2 2nd rd picks to move Mrazek at that point they just buy him out but I don't see Detroit taking Mrazek for a 2nd.

I will be upset if we don't re-sign Zadina. Also, keeping a 28-man roster isn't a viable way to hit the cap floor.

Yeah, buying him out isn't an option. It doesn't cut enough cap space for them to do anything (still carry 1.5M for 4 years). TOR's window is now, they need to plug their major holes this season, or next year will probably be Matthew's last in TOR, kicking off a major rebuild. They need to sign 4 Fs, 2 D, and a G, and all those guys need to move the needle, so they won't be doing much plugging in with prospects. They need $12M just to keep the same team out on the ice next year and have only ~$7.8M. They can get to $11.6M trading Mrazek, or $9.3M buying him out. Mrazek does have a modified NTC (10 teams), so it would be interesting to see who's on that list.

Not only do I expect Mrazek to be moved, I think you could see another contract or two go as well (Nylander, Muzzin, Kerfoot are all prime candidates. I would try to move Taveres myself, but that's a huge hit that the production doesn't match).

The buyout cap hit is 1, 0.8, 1.4, 1.4.

Tell me again how a $1M dead cap hit this season is unsurvivable.

Ditto. So why don’t the 2 of you agree to disagree and meet in between. B/c I would do it for a 1st in a heartbeat but sure as **** wouldn’t do you any favors for a 3rd.

Not my idea. Try reading. I just love bursting Toronto fans little fantasy bubble where every other team exists to do them favors.
