To be fair Dadonov is owed more money next year than Weber for the rest of his contract

At least he's playing tho

Yes, you are right, he doesn’t. I didn’t understand what you were asking before.

Should've phrased it better. Anyway, do you know sites that upload videos / shifts / whatever of prospects?

In 2/3 years when we see Weber on VGK's cap hit, we can all reminisce on this failed trade if this hurts them down the road.

MTL getting out of this contract while still getting an assets that can be flipped later, 👌

Because Blais is a good 3rd liner when healthy ( which was not the case last year )

It’s 1 year at 1.5. That’s perfectly fine for a decent bottom sixer. Reaves is making more to be a bad bottom sixer lol

The last two Habs captains were traded to Vegas
The next Habs captain (Suzuki) was a former Knight
There’s something about Canadiens captains and the Golden Knights

bruh how are you this predictable 💀💀 why would you get a 2nd + 4th for a guy that’s never gonna play again

It's fair to say Dadonov will get that at the TD

Is it? He cost a 2nd to dump 3 months ago, so if anything this deal could be perceived as costing the Habs a 2nd to dump the Weber contract. And he wasn’t having that good of a season prior to the TDL. Yeah he had 19 points in his last 18 games, but he only had 24 in his first 60, and 20 in 55 the year before with Ottawa. Like, he was traded for a 3rd last summer and that was (correctly) seen as terrible for Vegas. He also doesn’t do anything defensively, so you’re trading for him to play on a scoring line, and if he goes back to his 1 point every 3 games pace, then there probably won’t be much interest in him even half-retained. And he’s 33 so it’s not like a bounce-back is likely. I just don’t think he’s a top 6 guy on a contender, and he’s not useful in a checking role. Maybe you can recoup something for him, but I wouldn’t expect it to be a premium asset. That post-TDL motivation is unlikely to last forever.

You're using a completely different scenario to determine Dadonov's value. He was dumped because Vegas needed capspace to take Eichel off of LTIR. They were desperate last minute to offload him and came to that deal. Fleury wasn't worth 0, but because Vegas was desperate to offload cap, they traded the reigning Vezina goaltender for nothing, does that mean that's all he's worth? Chicago flipped him for a conditional 1st despite him having a down season with them.

Dadonov 5.5 for 2 years is bad, but an expiring UFA is prime for an overpayment at the TD especially if he's retained at 50%. He's still a capable middle 6 winger, his analytics were actually pretty good last year so I don't think he will flop.

I’m tired of seeing all these Petry to Dallas trades on AC-GM for hauls cuz “insiders reported it”. If your insiders aren’t Saad Yousef, Mike Heika or Matthew DeFranks it’s 90% unreliable.

Them plus a couple others are the only reliable ones, anything coming out of David Pagnotta’s mouth about the Stars is 99.99% 🧢.

You can’t compare a mediocre, aging winger to the reigning Vezina winner who has been to 5 cup finals. If you take out Dadonov’s hot stretch to end the year, he’s a 0.38 point per game scoring line winger over the last two seasons. Even with it included, he’s below half a point per game over the last two seasons. That’s comparable to Namestnikov this year, who had 0.42 points per game prior to the TDL, with the added utility of being able to play multiple forward positions and the penalty kill, and he was dealt half-retained (on a 2mil deal) for a 4th. There will undoubtedly be several better scoring wingers available at the TDL, nobody overpays for the 12th best guy on the market.

I'm not comparing them, I'm just saying their situation is similar. Just because Fleury was dumped, doesn't mean he was a bad player. You cant ignore the situation to determine the players value.

I also mentioned if Dadonov has a good season (might not have been this thread) then he'll get a good return, obviously if he's **** than we traded a ****ty contract (to Montreal) for free. No harm in it.

At the end of the day, i think it's a fair trade that will work out for both teams.
