It's always been tough for goalies. The games played is probably the biggest factor here, if I had to guess. Being completely left off 50 or so ballots though, is rough.

Imo the current best player at each position would be Gaudreau-McDavid-Kucherov / Hedman-Makar / Vasilevskiy. But these guys did have better regular seasons. Although if the first all star team was gonna be used as a line, I think having Gaudreau and Marner on the same line is a little counterproductive (it would work of course because both are so good they'd dominate regardless, but both are elite playmakers who like having multiple triggermen as options). So I'd probably opt for a guy like Tkachuk or Rantanen over Marner to optimize it. I'm a big fan of the playmaker/2-way player/power forward archetype with minimum 2 high end shooters, it works really well. It's the basic format for most of the league's top lines, although admittedly most of them are so good because guys can fill multiple of those roles (see: the top lines for Calgary, Dallas, Boston, Washington, and Colorado, you can pretty easily assign those roles, the only missing piece is maybe a true power forward on Boston).

so the point of a 2 way contract isnt the up and down call up/send down its to pay different salaries like physical dollars at ahl level and nhl level. instead of paying only nhl level. in a made up fantasy game theres no real reason to offer 2 way contracts the cap hit is still the same. players are still subject to waivers whether they are designated 1 way or 2 way, the only exception is those that dont have enough league experience. An example of someone waiver exempt is mason mctavish.
