Description
This guy has been credible and insightful in the past. He posted this maybe 10 mins ago. Not very detailed, but an interesting concept to speculate on:

I'm waiting for two returns for the details but it seems that there would have been a Mtl-NJ-Columbus discussion for a 3-team choice exchange, it seems complicated and I don't know if it will succeed but this discussion took place.

Just saw a random mock up...don't know how it makes me feel, TBH.

MTL: 1OA+26th OA (Receive 2OA+12 OA)
CLB: Laine+12OA (Receive 1OA + 26OA)
NJ: 2OA (Receive Laine)

IMO, there needs to be a player going to Columbus.

Can't imagine Guhle. Either a RD or winger to replace Laine, IMO. Dear lord if it was Petry... tears of joy

I mean, if I was Columbus in this situation I'd probably just deal straight with NJ, and pick Cooley with 2OA (there'd likely be other movement in a deal like that).

Would also be very weird for MTL to trade down when they're drafting at home.

If MTL trades down to select Slaf, I think thats just Hughes trying to get too cute and "Big Brain" the draft when Wright is the for sure best player in the class, Im not even sold on Slaf as a top 3 player in the class

if I'm Montreal I don't know if the difference between 26 and 12 validates dropping from wright to slafkovsky. reports already come saying HuGo is undecided between the two which worries me enough. there are plenty of NHL-caliber prospects throughout the late first and early second round, it's almost not worth it in my mind to give up Shane, we know what happens when you draft a kid just because of his strong frame and big shiny muscles.

-Slaf
-Kemell

I'm curious as to whether the flip-flop right now is just an attempt to drum up some hype from media/fans leading up to the draft. There's literally no way I'd be doing anything aside from Wright or Cooley.

How about one of Farrell, or Roy? Columbus has a few good RHD prospects, and some in the NHL. They have Boqvist, Ceulemans, etc. They could give Josh Brooks, but this isn’t terrible.

Columbus may be clearing Laine so they can get another good player to come up. Right now, they have Texier on the fourth line on ether depth chart. With Laine gone, that opens a place for him, then Nyquist will be gone the year after, so that will be another spot.

If they choose Wright, their center depth is going to be insane! Wright, Sillinger, Johnson, even though Johnson is looking like he may be a winger in Columbus. Maybe they want Slafkovsky, but I doubt it. This could screw over Arizona though, as I believe it may be Wright 1OA, Cooley 2OA if this trade happens.

I really can’t see them trading down from 1. Draft’s in their building and in the fans’ eyes this has been the Shane Wright draft for years. That building would lose their minds if they traded down I think. On the reports that Hughes and Gorton are undecided about 1, is that really true? Why would they tip their hand about who they’re going with at one. As long as this little possibility that they don’t select wright exists, it forces other teams to plan out extra scenarios and that could cause players to fall in the draft. If they are set on picking wright, they’re doing so would only benefit other teams, and would be of no benefit to them.

Fair. Probably overthinking it here, but I wonder if Columbus is playing chess in my odd hypothetical here...If they got Wright and then somehow got Nemec/Jiricek at 6, they'd be getting 2 birds stoned at once...

The Canadian in me loves the Trailer Park Boys reference tears of joy, If the Jackets pull that off on top of getting Sillinger/Johnson last year, Jarmo for Mayor of Columbus

1000%. So many outstanding Rickyisms...It doesn't take Rocket Appliances to know that Jarmo is the king.
