Aquiring Marner

Created by: Connor_McJesus_97
Team: 2022-23 San Jose Sharks
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 15, 2022
Published: Jun. 15, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Meier signs an 8 year 9.5m extension

With the way Vegas handled Fleury this is only fair that he signs here. He will me dealt at the FA to a contender like the Oilers for Kassian and a 2nd/1st or something like that.

Vlasic will probably have to be bought out next season because of cap reasons

I REALLY don't think that deal gets Marner. Any realistic SJS offer probably starts with Meier.

If we replace Meier with Labanc and remove the pick does the deal go through then?

I'd think this starts with Meier and Eklund then Toronto answers the call

I don't think the Leafs have any interest in trading Marner TBH. The offer would have to be absolutely incredible. He's in the prime of his career and just had an (almost) 100 point season. Those guys very rarely get traded and, if they do, it's for a king's ransom.

This ransom doesn't even get you a duke.

I don't really see what else San Jose would have to offer for Marner other then that.

San Jose should be starting a rebuild not adding more ridiculous contracts to a roster full of them

Teams trying to win stanley cups only trade their best players in VERY rare circumstances. And when they do, it's not for a pu-pu platter of other things, it's for another very good player (maybe two). Marner has such value to Toronto (great chemistry, local boy, etc.) that moving him would be a stupid move, regardless of the return.

I agree but this site is all about hypothetical trades and like I said before other then offering up Meier and Eklund to start Toronto likely doesn't even answer the phone for Marner
