Yeah some did - some didn't (Keith, Ceci, Barrie all on the same D corps/Smith and Koskinen didn't work.) Kane paid off, but they likely won't be able to keep him, Anderson provides a great replacement, three years younger and has term. Allen is a great 1B option, and you add a depth pick. You also dump Kassian in the process - for Bourgault and the...what? 29th overall pick?

I have a question. Why all of a sudden, are there so many Josh Anderson to Edmonton trades? I’m thinking it’s either wishful thinking, or something got leaked.

you obviously didnt watch the oilers at all. Ceci was a great signing for what her provided. Keith was steady most of the year and brought along bouchard which is why he was brought in. Barrie was there for the PP ( he will get moved this season but again filled the role he was supposed to) not sure you saw smith second half the year when he was healthy and had the best number of any goalie for the last month and ahalf..... he was also not the reason they lost to COL. KAne was a massive win. so like i said cleary didnt watch.

Anderson is a decent player but no way is he worth a 1st regardless of where it is and bourgault is looking like an absolute stud with his performance this year. the oilers will need cheap cost controlled players to keep building.

so like i said oiler laugh say good look with wright and tanking to get bedard click

why this trade does not make the oilers better and anderson is no worth that price at all. most people think he is a replacement for kane which he is no where close to. he is more like an upgrade on kassian.
actually their advanced stats over the last 3 years are almost identical. they play the same inconsistent game i will give you anderson has a slightly better offensive up side. but for 5 more years at 5.5M

I would rather keep our 1st and bourgault who looks like a stud. buy out kassian ( or find a trade to take his contract) and resign kane.

Trying to bring what kane brought without the price tag. Bob Stauffer was really hammering on anderson as a replacement for kane a few days ago.

The only thing here I would add or question is Barrie honestly see no reason to move. He's unreal option for the pp but he's also a veteran presence for the third pair which looking at next year's roster broberg and or niemelainen coming in full time ideally on the left side stronger side. Nice to have a veteran on the right. All the talk of needing someone stronger defending I question because the d core made the conference finals basically without nurse. I wouldng change anything on d for next year.

Kassian's contract is a real **** to buy out in the second year.

only reason he will be moved is it iwll free up 4.5 mill in capspace and they can move bouch onto the powerplay.
If they were not in a cap crunch i could see them keeping him

they still save 1.3 for a player they are probably replacing with an ELC deal
they also have much more room that offseason than this even after they sign deals this summer.

or they were simply beat by a better deeper team.... who was a true cup contender when most people thought the oilers season would be a success if they won 1 playoff round and were not true contenders....

I think stauff is one of the worst hockey broadcasters out there. he knows his history and stories of the game but for providing insight in to the game today he is horrendous.

It was a non pens fan that made that trade. I can’t imagine Poulin getting traded unless he’s in a deal for an all star level player

You cannot afford to re-sign Kane. If you do - it'll cost you Pool Party and Yamo. He's reportedly looking for a pay raise of 5-6 million
