If we traded for Smiley and resigned Campbell, the other players would feel bad if they scored on us. This could work.

Hahahah this is AWFUL. DNA Jose would trade Reimer for that without a cap dump in Mrazek. I think San Jose would do a Kerfoot-Reimer swap. Mrazek is an automatic 1st rounder added.

Lol he is not an automatic first round added dump. He could easily be traded with a second or a prospect or just bought out.

Great trade it’s almost perfect. Just add a 1st rounder going to SJ and we’re in business.

So you admit the trade is a** that’s a good start. Precedent shows he’s a least a 1st to dump. Marleau was a $6.25 mil cap dump and cost was a 1st. Now, simple math shows us that Mrazek is a $7.6 mil cap dump. He will cost at least a 1st to dump. You take out all the other garbage in the trade and add a 2nd or a good prospect for Reimer then it’s fair.

Nope that is not a precedent at all. Marleau's cap hit was a lot more and the Leafs needed the space right away. This year there is some flexibility and there will be from additional trades. They can simply buy him out, which is not ideal but they would save

That is not a precedent at all, come on man. Marleau's hit was almost 3 mill more, albeit for one less year and they needed the space right away. There is some space this year and additional space will be made with trades. They can buy him out anyway and save 5.7 over the first 2 years and deal with the extra 1.4 the next 2 years. I can't see any way the cap doesn't go up by then either.

They will get rid of him and not a chance they use a first

Then they should just buy him out. There are no teams lined up to take him due to the cap situation being much much tighter now than years ago. It is a precedent and much of the league uses prior trades to guide new ones. There are better trade options on the market and free agents who are cheaper and more reliable

Again it is not a precedent since it was a completely different scenario. They will probably buy him out, but if they trade him there is no way a first is involved...no way.

Massive underpayment by the leafs, a 2nd or a 1st would have to go to SJ for this to work
