It's pretty good, but the defense isn't strong enough. You could sign Shattenkirk or Alzner and still resign eichel with plekanecs ending contract, cap rising and gionta

That deal definitely looks good. Interested to see what Canes fans think. Defense can be shaped better though.

Antipin-TVR is how I would that

I'd skip the MTL trade and keep Girges. Plekanec is an expensive 3C (the space cap is there), and you could find a 3C for nothing in free agency for much less cap. Girges isn't worth much after last season, so keep the nice depth player that he already is, and hope for a rebound season.

Girgensons and ennis both suffered under bylsma, story i heard was both did ok in a loose system (before bylsma), but neither embraced or were capable of what bylsma wanted to do. Im assuming that we wont be tanking for 2018, so our next coach will probably want the same commitment and accountability that bylsma wanted. Girgensons at least should have some trade value, even if its only because he did not do anything to deserve a big raise. I think i would move him out for best offer and look for a 3c elsewhere. Plekanic is a nice player but i think id rather do it on the cheap.

I think Grigs needs a change of scenery more than anything. I don't think he ever got comfortable with Bylsma and not having consistent linemates or knowing what his role was supposed to be. He's been through the entire tank process, multiple coaches, GM's, and owners.

I have the hardest time with Sabres trades right now. No GM and head coach make it harder to know what they want in players.
