This only works if the Devils throw in Dougie, Hughes, Nico, the demogorgon from Stranger things, and Sweden's GDP.

Provide a source, Larkin is one year out of free agency that's where you're coming up with the one year part.

Pierre LeBrun just said that both sides want to get a long term deal done sooner rather than later.

How does trading Larkin to NJD make any sense when they already have Hughes and Hischier as their 1C and 2C you going to pay Larkin 8 x $9,500,000 to be their 3C i don't think so.

If we deal Larkin it's probably to Columbus where he can play with his buddy Zack Werenski for Kent Johnson the 2022 Chicago #6 overall pick Columbus 2023 1st round pick and a 2nd round pick with an extension.

Any ways you're wrong Dylan Larkin isn't looking at a one year deal. But there has been talk of going short term then possibly long term when he's in his early 30's.

Larkin is definitely worth a lot more then Eichle so this deal makes a ton of sense for NJ

Kent Johnson, 6OA, another first and a 2nd? Are you SMOKING CRACK? I get Larkin's been like the only bright spot on the Red Wings and they need to make it a good deal if they trade him but no way any other GM gives up that much.

If Larkin is looking for a 1 year deal, why would the Devils do this for a rental?!

And extended Larkin is worth every bit that much. Look at what both Seth Jones and Hampus Lindholm got in return and get back to me.

Jesus God, he is not Brayden Point. He's not a 1C on a contender. He's a very solid middle of the pack 1C or an excellent 2C. He is very certainly not worth three firsts.

If your going say something like that you pretty much have to provide a source.

I wouldn't worry too much he has yet to name a source. It sounds a lot like an Ekund rumor.

laugh Is this a freaking joke, Right now he's a heck of a lot better than Jack Hughes and Nico Hischier which neither can even stay healthy. Larkins best season 73 points neither Hughes or Hischier have come close yet.

Both teams say no. Detroit's not looking to restart their rebuild, and New Jersey would not give up that much when they already have 2 good young centers.

And then look at Buchnevich and Reinhart and the lowly returns they got. We could do this all day. Just cause one GM does a bad deal doesn't mean another GM should do another. Also those are both deals done by CHI and BOS, CHI a team in which was trying anything to extend the Kane-Toews window and BOS who were competing and that was a deadline deal. CBJ is not in the same position as either of those teams. The Lindholm deal also is no where close to this. A mid to late first two seconds and a former first rounder who's 23 and played like 40 nhl games is peanuts compared to the package you proposed. A 5th overall pick from a year ago, 6th overall this year and another first next year as well as a second would literally cripple that franchise's future. All for a low 1C to high end 2C. I want what you're smoking. That is not worth it for a guy who will put up anywhere from 0.7- 0.95 ppg. Get the homer goggles off.

Dude, I'm a Columbus fan. I could not care less about Hughes or Hischier or New Jersey in general (I have family there, it's a lovely state, no offence Jersey). Larkin is not a top-15 1c and that is a fact. His value is higher for Detroit due to his local connection, and that's fine. Detroit should do whatever it possibly can to keep the guy. But no team is going to give you a Jones return for him, let alone last year's 5th OA, this year's 6th OA, and a probably 2023 lottery, PLUS. That's crackpipe fantasy.

If Larkin was in Columbus right now he'd 100% be your current 1C he's better than anyone you currently have on the roster not named Patrik Laine. Doesn't matter he wont be a Blue Jacket so it's all moot to begin with.

No argument there. Both of us are rebuilding. Larkin doesn't really fit the Jackets timeline, and if Stevie does his job, he won't really fit yours either.

Looking at C's who are better than Larkin, cause now I'm curious...

McD, MacK, AM, Crosby, Drai, Barkov, ROR, Point, Bergeron, Ziba, Kopitar, Lindholm, Stamkos, maybe Aho & Eichel. He's a top 15 IMO.
