I agree with everything here and I could see Simmonds pulling a spezza and saying if someone claims him he'll retire

The issue is, that all these teams know you need to make these trades to get your goalie and support pieces in place. These teams want to maximize returns if they are taking cap dumps, and pay less for anything that has value. Leafs are in win now, and luckily players have continued proving to take discounts to become a Leaf. So it will happen, but you likely won't be pumped with the returns.

The Kerfoot trade is a trade that DOES NOT need to happen this offseason.

        Try again.

what's so special about our 2024 2nd. Why not have one this year.

Number 1: it is possibly the latest draft pick in the second round this year, I’d rather roll the dice that the pick in 2024 isn’t in the last two of the round.

Number 2: The new regime has not had a chance to adequately prepare for the upcoming NHL draft (seeing as we just let go of our head of scouting and there’s new faces at every level of the organization) so a future pick is more valuable to us as Davidson will have a better chance to make an informed decision on who to draft with that pick.

Number 3: We have enough of Tampa’s picks.
