I agree the Manson thing is pretty nonsensical.

But you’re missing the boat on the Hamilton conversation. He’s due 56 mil. Trouba’s due 26 mil. Half of Trouba’s deal is paid off already. Hamilton has 90% of his contract money owed. Trouba just outproduced his scoring rate on a team that didn’t score much 5v5. Real world value edge is close here. And if that’s the case, I think you’d set Hamilton’s trade value a lot higher than a 1st…

hamilton's more versatile, he can run a PP and put up big points as well as make an impact defensively. trouba's a big guy who can hit people. hamilton's year this year? mid, but he broke his jaw so i give him a pass. the full Dougie Hamilton Experience is worth a lot more than what trouba brings to the table considering the cap hits

Jeez abysmal offensive play let’s take a look…

Kakko: 1.58 points/60
PLD: 1.66 points/60

Seems pretty close bud.

Though in fairness Kakko is scoring goals at a better rate. Can’t teach that…

You're funny. You can tell when guys like yourself know they are fighting a losing battle

PLD has a career average of 54 points/ season. Kakko 30 points/season. PLD produces at a top line level, while KK produces at a low end 3rd line level. In other words abysmal.

But If you're happy with his fancy stats, then by all means hang onto him, because he isn't a desirable piece.

Being healthy scratched by his coach for an AHL/NHL tweener shows that you should try watching hockey instead of heavily relying on cherry picking fancy stats. It let's you know that fancy stats aren't the be all end all for low quality players like Kakko.

I’m not sure that’s a great argument. Trouba’s been unlucky enough to be behind 2 of the better PPQB’s in the league in Fox and Deangelo over the last few seasons but he’s excelled when given PP1 opportunities and his PP point rate over the last few seasons is right in line with Hamilton (4 pts/60 vs 4.3). Conversely Trouba’s been a much more relied upon PK option playing significantly more minutes there in only 5 extra games vs Dougie.
I think pound for pound the on-ice value favors Dougie. But in a league where multiple teams are offering 1sts for 20 games of Ben Chiarot, downplaying the whole hitting thing is missing a lot of what the league values - those old mantras of being physical, eating minutes. All that crap. I’m not saying I evaluate hockey that way but a lot of folks running front offices do. And when you combine that and the smaller differences between offensive performance and the big difference between money owed, the market value of these 2 players is a lot closer than one would expect. And given how highly you value one, it’d be only fair to put the other on that tier. At least in terms of the market.

I figured you didn’t roll with fancy stats. But if you’re not able to process the game beyond raw points you really got to watch the game and not the box score bud.
Stay in school man. It’s good that you got addition down wait til you get to division and find out that Tonitano isn’t twice as good as Perfetti just because he had double the points.

I'll do Schneider if Jets include Heinola. What other pieces would you add to the deal?

Trouba just outproduced Hamilton and Severson at even strength and will be making less than both of them after next season.

Severson won’t get more than 8M…and if he does it won’t be with the Devils

Trouba’s value is pretty easy to calculate. Take what Risto got. Take what Seth Jones got. Split the difference. It’s more than what’s being asked for here.
