Question for Ranger Fans

Description
I should preface this with the fact that I do not watch NYR games and am purely going off what I've heard in podcasts, TSN, etc. I also don't know how far away Edmonton is from NYR with all these stats and stuff so I might be wrong on that too.

I'm seeing a lot of trades for Georgiev to go to the Oilers for various types of picks. I've looked at his numbers last year and they aren't great. From what I've been told/read a bit about though, the Rangers have bad possession and shot numbers and Shesterkin was able to bail them out a ton.

So here is my question: Is Georgiev really that bad, or is he a good goalie that couldn't keep up with the shot/possession numbers the same way Shesterkin did? If Georgiev went to a team that had better stats (maybe like the Oilers) do you think he would be okay?

He has a starter mentality. He used to be our starter and he was good, but hes a bad backup because he has a bad mindset

Georgiev is...weird. I definitely think he's a better starter than backup though. He needs to be seeing pucks consistently, he's not super great at coming in once every 4 or 5 games, but seems to perform better in stretches where he's the starter

Georgiev plays better and is more consistent when he receives regular playing time. He would probably make a better starter than backup. That being said, if he isn't traded by July 8th, you can get him for nothing as the Rangers most likely wont qualify him.

Your mistake is presuming that Edmonton has better stats than New York, when in fact the two teams are remarkably similar.

Shots against/60
NYR: 30.51
EDM: 31.90

Expected goals against/60
NYR: 2.81
EDM: 2.92

High danger corsi against/60
NYR: 12.00
EDM: 11.50

There's no reason to believe that Georgiev would magically raise his game in Edmonton.

Don’t compare his numbers to Shesty… we are the worst team defensively so with proper team in front of him he would be good. For example on the Leafs.. he would bet better than Soup as per analytics. The 3rd would get him

It’s more so how bad the team in front of him is.. can’t compare him to shesty. Shesty is actually the best goalie out there when it comes to analytics. And it’s not close
