Devils aren't trading #2 for Fiala unless the Wild add Addison and their 1st going back to Jersey, at least.

Minnesota doesn't need a G or a 4th liner. Take out dewar and 2nd round pick from fiala. Not a chance kessel is being signed/ traded 4, or rask

Actually on Beyond the Pond today Pat M and Brandon M mentioned Phil Kessel as a possible target if the Wild free up cap. A way to get a right handed shot on the power play.

Fiala and a third doesn't get 2OA.

Why? You're getting an 80 point player in Fiala, the 2oa is a question mark. Might never play.

If one of Slafkovsky, Cooley, or Jiricek is so bad a bust that they're not even a career NHLer, I will give you a hundred bucks. If Fiala costs that, the Devils don't make the trade. They'll go after someone else or just make the pick.

You reallly want 2oa? Fiala and Wallstedt. We'll even throw in a slightly used half price Andreas Johnsson and the incomparable half man, half giraffe, whole enigma Shakir Mukhamadullin.

And the fact that you can get a player at 2OA who could be better with the better part of a decade of cost control balances out that fact. And while Fiala would be under control with an extension. A player on ELC and 6 years younger that could potentially be as good as Fiala or better (which is the hope) is more valuable to NHL GMs.

Pat m and Brandon don't cover the team. Radio people mention all kind of things.. Guerin isn't bringing in Kessel who nobody wanted at deadline for 3rd round pick

How do you know this? Tbh You and I have less clout than Pat M and Brandon M… Pat M called the Vanek move months before anyone… he’s connected to gopher players.

Kessel blocked a trade to Minnesota years ago because he didn't want to deal with Minnesota taxes. Also, every reporter said no team even wanted to trade a 3rd round pick for Kessel at deadline. Guerin wouldn't bring in a guy to lockerroom that is that age and has essentially mailed it in

Both of those are false, not sure where you heard that but that’s just not true. It had nothing to do with MN taxes. See link below. Also Kessel wasn’t traded because His cap hit, Ari needed to retain money but couldn’t once they retained money on Larsson. You’re 0-2 here. Kessel didn’t mail anything in, he actually had a decent 52 point season for a bad Ari team. Kessel carried an 8 mil cap hit in 2022, no contending team could afford that without salary retention. Kessel is actually a great locker room guy, teammates love him.

https://www.bardown.com/the-reported-reason-why-phil-kessel-nixed-a-trade-to-the-minnesota-wild-1.1312680

Why Kessel wasn’t traded at the 2022 trade deadline:

Friedman on 32TP talking players that didn't move at the deadline:

Kessel surprised me too but I heard after they kept money on Larsson they couldn't keep money on Kessel and that ruined his chances of going anywhere

“It’s so great having him on this team, having him in this locker room,” Justin Schultz said. “There is so much stuff out there about him that’s totally untrue. It’s funny how untrue some of the stuff is. That’s the world we live in, I guess. What a great teammate. What a great guy.”
