Quoting: Wildnochance
Kessel blocked a trade to Minnesota years ago because he didn't want to deal with Minnesota taxes. Also, every reporter said no team even wanted to trade a 3rd round pick for Kessel at deadline. Guerin wouldn't bring in a guy to lockerroom that is that age and has essentially mailed it in
Both of those are false, not sure where you heard that but that’s just not true. It had nothing to do with MN taxes. See link below. Also Kessel wasn’t traded because His cap hit, Ari needed to retain money but couldn’t once they retained money on Larsson. You’re 0-2 here. Kessel didn’t mail anything in, he actually had a decent 52 point season for a bad Ari team. Kessel carried an 8 mil cap hit in 2022, no contending team could afford that without salary retention. Kessel is actually a great locker room guy, teammates love him.

Why Kessel wasn’t traded at the 2022 trade deadline:
Friedman on 32TP talking players that didn't move at the deadline:
Kessel surprised me too but I heard after they kept money on Larsson they couldn't keep money on Kessel and that ruined his chances of going anywhere
“It’s so great having him on this team, having him in this locker room,” Justin Schultz said. “There is so much stuff out there about him that’s totally untrue. It’s funny how untrue some of the stuff is. That’s the world we live in, I guess. What a great teammate. What a great guy.”
