Both win here imo. MTL gains an asset they could trade for actual value by retaining salary, and Vegas didn't have to pay anything to move Dadonov.

Like this for Montreal. They trade a "negative asset" and acquiring a 40 PT pending UFA (next season) that they can flip at the TD for a massive return.

I think it's a pretty fair deal, This gives vegas 5 mil in cap space and MTL trades a contract that they don't want to pay for. Dadanov only has a year left and they could easily retain 50% at next year's deadline or sometime during the off-season for some assets. Works out for both sides, but is also confirms that Weber will never play again (even though we already knew.)

Waiting for an apology from all the Montreal fans that told me that Arizona would pay a prime asset to Montreal for Weber's contract since it would help them reach the cap floor without having to spend actual dollars.

From my understanding, having both Price (possibly) and Weber on LTIR would cripple the team's offseason cap space for years to come. I'd say Habs win because of that, and even more so if Dadonov is dealt with retention

Massive win for Vegas. They payed a 2nd to dump Dadonov a few months ago and now they are getting off scot free. I really, really hope Weber comes back and royally screws Vegas over.

Vegas is so predicable

I knew they were gonna trade for Weber before the playoffs even started

MTL wins as at the TDL they can retain and flip Dadonov (50% retained) to a competitor and get more value

Feel like the habs should’ve gotten a bit more from VGK for taking on dadonov, might have to eat my words if he pops off though

Remember that LTIR doesn't count on day 1 of the regular season so yes Vegas gets cap relief but will need to comply on day 1 for the next 4 years. Short term solution from Vegas as always so we'll see how this one works out.

Montreal gets much needed cap space and a guy they'll likely showcase all year to take at TDL. Worked out well for Chiarot so I'm all in on this one.

That's what MTL will get by flipping him.

Everone who said Weber had negative value and Habs fans were delusional are wrong again ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

*sigh* why Vegas. Holden and a 3rd, a 3 day long dispute, for dead cap space

I get that this is to save Vegas from not having the money to put a proper team out there, but this could’ve been avoided a while ago if you decided not to dump Fleury to get Dadanov

What a waste.

Habs get to trade Weber contract without paying anything. Dadonov should get big minutes, and he's gonna want to perform to sign a nice contract next year. Could possibly play with Wright? Nice veteran addition to the young core, could get a nice return for him at the TDL with 50% retained salary.

Love this for MTL. Also makes sense for Vegas.
