Boston isn't retaining on Brad Marchand.

He's coming off double hip surgery doubtful he's ready until December or January.

I dont think retaining 1.25 million when you are going into a rebuild is the least likely thing with this ACGM

But is two late firsts and a cap dump really what boston is going to want for a guy thats been a top 5 scorer in the league the last 5 years, with elite defense, and a very team friendly contract?

I just said I am copying the one a bruins fan made in the ACGM I linked. I think Pitt probably needs to add a bit more but not a crazy amount

Why would you copy a trade?

Anyhow, that guy is totally out to lunch. I think he probably thinks zucker is good

It’s something that happens pretty often on here. A person sees a trade that someone else posts in on of their ACGMs and wants to show what it looks like from the other teams POV.

I think you are also overeating the value of a 34 year old who is going to miss half the season due to a major surgery

It was interesting ACGM. A Homer Pitt fan told me Zucker + 2nd was fair and then tried to defend his stance because what Zucker brings to the locker room.

Sorry it was Zucker, 2nd, and 4th. The 4th really tilts the scale here.

I know that, but most make note of it in the description or title.

I think a lot of people on this site confuse worth and value.

What is Marchand worth? Might be somewhere around this trade. Probably not, but maybe. What is his value? That’s whatever makes the bruins decide they are would like to trade him. Worth and value are rarely the same.

Also, Marchand is expected to return in late November. Not nearly half the season.

I wrote a description, not sure why its not visible.

"This trade is inspired by @l19f9 (https://www.capfriendly.com/users/l19f9). In his ACGM Boston rebuilds and trades everyone (he also has them signing Malkin for some reason but we are just going to ignore that). Marchand and Crosby are super tight and I could see Marchand requesting to come here. I know he had a bit of a run in with Jarry last year but I think they could easily move on from that."

*Im going to have to disagree on your marchand point about worth vs value. If the bruins are going for a rebuild marchands worth is much more than his value

Why?

Because Marchand is a good player. Teams who want to compete want good players more than teams who are rebuilding. Teams who are rebuilding value picks and prospects more.

Take this example. If the penguins were going to trade Sidney Crosby which team would value him more, Colorado or Arizona? Colorado, as they are trying to compete right now, and Crosby would help them do that. On the other hand, Arizona is trying to collect draft picks and prospects to build towards competing in the future.

Not a hard concept

No, i get that. And thanks for letting me know its not a hard concept.

But this isn’t a player with a year left, and this isn’t a team that doesn’t have any of the pieces need to bounce back quickly. They’ve got an elite D, which is probably the hardest piece to find. They’ve got a super high end number 2 d man, and a real good second pair. They’ve got the young goalie. Maybe they have the elite sniper in pasta. This isn’t a, “take what you can get,” situation like it would be if the Bruins were planning a retool and marchand’s deal was up after next year.
