Semi-Reasonable Trade Ideas to Move Forward

Description
I'm not saying that all of these are going to happen this off season. However, Calgary is in a place where, if they want to turn the corner, they will have to start getting creative. These are possible trade options that work for all teams involved (in my estimation).

Tavares trade works because New York gets a decent package, gets younger, gives themselves more time to build a team around their existing pieces, and avoids the risk of losing Tavares for little or nothing in free agency. Calgary gets the true franchise player that they need.

Drouin trade works because it gives Tampa Bay cap space, a defenseman that can help now, a cost-effective forward, a good prospect, and rids them of a not-great contract. Calgary gets a young, game-changing forward.

Minnesota trade works because they avoid losing Brodin for nothing in the expansion draft. They also get some pieces that can help them out on the wing. Calgary gets a younger, cheaper, and perhaps more efficient replacement for Brodie.

Van Reimsdyk trade works because Toronto needs a veteran defenseman who can help now. Not only do they get this, but they also get a first round draft pick, and avoid losing Van Reimsdyk for little or nothing in free agency. Calgary gets a good veteran winger to help solidify their depth on the wing.

Trouba trade works because it gives Winnipeg the opportunity to move on from what seems to be a disgruntled player. They do so by getting a gritty winger with loads of potential, and goalie who may be able to provide the team with some stability. Calgary gets a legitimate top four right shot defenseman, and makes room for Parsons as the goalie of the future.

Nyquist trade works because he is rumoured to be available, and Detroit gets a decent package back for him. Calgary gets their elusive RW.

By giving assets to Vegas, they take the Brouwer contract. This gives Vegas some veteran leadership, and some prospects to compete on their AHL team. This gives Calgary some more space with which to resign Tavares, Van Reimsdyk, etc...

Again, I'm not saying that all of these will or even need to happen. However, Calgary does need to consider lining up their players' windows to win. This might mean giving up some good players (Tkachuk, Backlund, Giordano, Brodie, Monahan etc...) in order to setup the roster a little more effectively.

Most of these are actually pretty fair trades when it comes to value! well done. It still 1000% unrealistic that CGY does all these trades over the course of one summer though haha perhaps just one?

I disagree with the MIN trade, Brodin is a solid young top 4 D, I feel like you're only giving up decent pieces for something far better compared to your other deals that have at least one key piece each. MIN would be able to fetch better even with their expansion draft troubles.

And why give so much to Vegas????

Nyquist trade doesn't help Detroit in the least, Detroit would be seeking a top 4 LHD/RHD in any deal for Nyquist or Tatar. And your proposal doesn't give that.

if Calgary were to do any of these trades I would no longer be a fan thank god youre not the GM except for maybe the Minnesota trade and the Detroit trade but both of those teams hang up and laugh at the offers.

The Flames need to get a good reliable goalie, sign (or re-sign in the case of Stone) or trade for a solid #4 Dman and continue to be patient.

They have a good roster, good depth, a good coach and a strong GM. Plus the core of the roster is very young on average with only Giordano being over 30 years old and the majority of them being under 25.

They certainly don't need to blow up the roster like you have done here.

That's WAY too much for the Flames to give up for one year of Tavares. Can't you wait till next year to see if really want to be a Flame? I for one don't understand the logic of "losing a UFA for nothing." Every year dozens of UFAs are on expiring contracts. Leafs would prefer to sign a younger Dman instead of getting rid of JVR and having Gio's contract for years.

pretty good trades and fair trades at that.
I agree Flames don't give that much for Tavares without him signing for more then one year.
tampa deal works gives the flames a vet dman if stone walks.
Only one I question is TKachuk, sounds like the flames are high on him and think he's on the untouchable list
