Canes not trading forwards for Dman or lesser forwards. When the biggest need is scoring.

It was already reported that Kovalchuk wants either the Rangers, Islanders or Panthers because he has homes near those teams. Montreal isn't on his preferred list of acceptable teams. Doubt he has any interest in playing there.

And why are we helping Habs out by taking Pleks?
We are drafting a C. Unless there is something special on its way to jersey for that, no!

I think a Beaulieu trade for Teravainen is almost a Jones Johansen trade just a little less skilled. With Fleury and Murphy not panning out on defense. Beaulieu could be a good add as Carolina doesn't many good defenseman to protect for expansion draft.

Fleury is just right on track and coming NHL next season. But Murphy is bust and will be.

You do know Yakapov is a RFA and the Habs would have to trade for him right?

yes I know about Yakupov and I dough he gets protected and sign by St Louis Blues he played no games in the playoffs. He'd be a gamble by Montreal but buy low high reward he has proved so far that he's a bust but this would be his last chance in the NHL before KHL bound.

I don't know if the Blues would match an offer sheet, or even bother to give him a qualifying offer and just let him become a UFA. He's not a Yeo type of player at all.

Yep, the way I understand it, STL would have to qualify him at 100% or more of his previous AAV ($2.5M). That won't happen so he'll become UFA. Someone may want to take a shot at him, but I bet he goes to KHL. Poor Nail, he's so fast and powerful but he has zero hockey sense / positional awareness.

I know NJ won't trade Kovalchuk to somewhere he doesn't want to go but with Markov Emelin probably Radulov Nesterov Sergashev Scherbak ... I think Montreal would be able to attract him to Montreal.
