i always forget about the sharp drop off martinez had this year. simple build makes a measure of sense. I could see Broissoit being dumped but it is a scarce goalie market.

Dude... the Blues would not make this terrible trade in a million years even if it wasn't helping Vegas - which they would NEVER, EVER do in a billion years.

With his serious eye injury, Alec Martinez value has dropped big time. Until we know more he's not worth no 3rd round pick to us.

I'm curious why Detroit is paying assets for Martinez. Their situation is similar to the Rangers when Yzerman traded for Staal that came with a 2nd round pick. Shouldn't Martinez and a 3/4 being coming to Detroit for future considerations?

People have reminded you constantly it wasn't an eye injury. It was a cut next the the eye that got infected and caused vertigo. He played the last 15 games of the season.

Martinez played as good as one could except at the end of the season, there’s no evidence Martinez seriously declined after his return. Martinez is a top 4 defenseman. Some terrible takes here.

I guess VGK would do that as well. It's all cap tied.

Terrible is harsh. 4th for a backup is decent price. Helping VGK such a bad thing?

1- It's not. Dude's been really bad for good teams a bunch of times. He had one strong season of backup play with WPG. The Blues have two goalies in Springfield better than him. And cheaper.

2- I agree. But he's not one.

3- The Blues do NOT like Vegas. And they do NOT do sweetheart favors for rivals, be they animosity-based or West competitors for the goodies or both. And Vegas is both. The Blues belly laugh at their misfortune.

Do they go with Colten Ellis or Joel Hofer as backup?

Probably Lindberg to start with, but Hofer won't be far behind. I think Ellis might be a trade chip because Zherenko is already coming up fast on him.
