Tyler Bertuzzi signed to an long term extension is worth more than just a single 13th overall pick. Look at what Seth Jones and Hampus Lindholm got 2 1st a 2nd and a NHL roster player. Detroit passes.

No thanks on Martin jones as backup, The guy is useless.

And Patrice Bergeron would retire, before he'd ever play in Detroit.

It’s actually a future 1st rounder he has coming back to Detroit.

I also think Bergeron actually retires, if there was a scenario where he went to another team, I could see it as a possibility but it would be in the form of a gross overpayment. Like a 1 year or 2 year deal with a $13m AAV or something. But again, not likely.

It would have to be an overpayment for us to consider moving Bert and this certainly isn't one. Also the Rutta signing is unnecessary since you're already getting Pettersson in this scenario.

Pens accept, fair value and a guy with a good chance of being moved.

Yeah my bad it's a 2023 1st round pick so knowing the islanders it will be even worse than the 13th over pick, All the more reason why Detroit doesn't do it.

Ok but it's most likely not a lottery pick and he has Bertuzzi signing an extension. So we basically trade Bertuzzi with term for a mid round 1st.
