Probably because it's not improved and because it makes zero sense.

Not even sure I would move Nylander alone for Gibson let alone all that along with him. Maybe if it was Mrazek+Nylander for Gibson. But I certainly think Gibson is not on the Leafs radar with the risk that comes with his cap hit and term.

Not sure why you're spending $5.5M on bottom pair D when you have Gio/Lily ready to go right below them.

Also Devils aren't sending you anything back for Mrazek; in fact it probably takes adding at least a 3rd for them to accept that dump.

And just a quick side note. Can someone explain to me who Nick Abrusseze is and why Chicago would take on the Mrazek contract to get him?

I'm sure the entire league will be banging on our door when they here Mrazek is available.... so they can try and take as many assets as possible from us lol.

Maybe someone would take him if they were desperate to get Nylander 🤷‍♂️

Confirmed islanders fans > red wings fans. The uncle Leo profile pic was also a good hint.

Lol. Apparently the cap friendly rate is somewhere between a 3rd and Matthews + several 1sts.

Nylander and Mrazek for Gibson isn’t a terrible idea tbh

The issue comes down to the fact that Nylander may be the better asset, but if u take on Mrazek u probably aren’t giving up anything else in the deal. Maybe if Toronto got Henrique with retention I could c it. Idk.

I disagree. Nylander coming off a career year while Gibson coming off of 3 years of garbage is such a bad idea. Regardless of how you view value trading away nylander in the hopes of Gibson returning to form is not what the leafs need. This no time to gamble.

Also, are the ducks a competitor during nylanders tenure?

"the team reportedly does not have John Gibson on their radar right now per Chris Johnston."

"right now"

Gibson wants to win, but won't want to live in EDM, and NJ is to far away from winning. TOR is an acceptable destination. Maybe WAS.

It’s more about his team than Gibson himself. A first, a prospect and Mrazek won’t get the deal done.

There has been no interest in Gibson from the leafs. Rightfully so. Other teams are already calling. How long after Gibson is traded from the ducks should the leafs wait?

I think you're right. But I think that package would land a very decent goalie who is playing well. Teams in the latter stages of their rebuild might be better suited to try a run at Gibson.
