What they should do

Created by: Db1899
Team: 2022-23 New York Islanders
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 17, 2022
Published: Jun. 17, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
There is no path to contention next season. If the isles trade away expendable assets like Mayfield and Valamov , they can set themselves up for the future by drafting two high end forwards. Nazar should be a top 10 pick , but a lot of mock drafts have him going in the 12-16 range. He would be a steal at 13. Yurov has one of the highest ceilings in the draft and with the Russia situation he could fall to the 20s.

Mayfield can EASILY get a late first at the deadline

Yeah I’m not sure what his logic is on the Mayfield and Varly deal. I’m sure it will come in the form a bar graph tho 😉😂

I’d have to go back and look at the guys they traded for with M-NTC’s and get back to u

Let me know cause saying there is a long list of players is a bold statement, and not backing it up is tough.
Cause off the top of my head I can think of skinner and Staal who recently accepted trades to buf with NMC
And I can't remember any public knowledge trades that have been squashed because of a NMC

How is his "taxation status" going to change going from the Isles to Buffalo? Same New York state taxes either place. If anything he's better off in Buffalo where (I assume) the property taxes are lower than Nassau county.

That was meant for other markets more than Buffalo. Sorry.

The value here is god awful for NY.

Don’t be a homer, getting 1st rd pick for a 3rd pair D and a good goaltender is far from bad value

He’s not a third pair righty lol. He’s a third pair on the isles. There is a huge difference.

Dealing from a position of strength doesn’t make ur assets worth less

The ironic thing about your comment is Tampa and Colorado let those bar graphs dictate their moves more than any other team in the NHL. The two teams in the finals make trades based on analytics and they aren’t shy about saying it

I mean advanced stats are good. And Mayfields had good advanced stats the past 2 years and has such a low contract im sure all the contenders would try and trade for him considering he’s better than Chiarot I can see a similar package maybe a little less because Chiarots got more name value

There is nothing about Mayfields game that makes him a 2nd pair D. He’s a very good 3rd pair zd

Is that based off a chart or a graph? He played extremely well with Pelech on the first pair this year. And he was second pair with Leddy and Toews. 😂😂😂

Except when the D man can easily get a 1st and probably more they’d probably be a bidding war for him at the deadline with contending teams due to his contract and play

Yes

Pretty sure Skinner was disgruntled in Carolina, but I would bet that Buffalo was on his No trade list this year cause they finished last in 2020-2021. As for next year he probably puts it on his list so he doesn’t get traded. He doesn’t seem like he is wants to leave lol

He’s better at refuting arguments than making them. There isn’t any original thought here on his part. He lives and dies by evolving hockey.

Pelech and Toews carried him, please let’s not make Mayfield seem better than he is. He’s a very good 3rd pair defensive defenseman.

Are you implying that The Avs and lightning should stop making trades based on bar graphs?

You have to be extremely stupid to think that the Avs and Lightning should stop using bar graphs because you don't understand them

End of the day u can’t really debate anything with him cause he’s not willing to acknowledge hockey isn’t played on paper.

I’d definitely say he’s more of a good 4th-5th d man and for 1.4 million is a steal and teams are going to be waiving trades for this man if he’s available at the deadline Chiarot got more and he’s way worse

I understand the graphs. The difference between you and me is IK they aren’t perfect. It’s very clear to me that u never played hockey cause u can’t tell me why a player struggled only that he did. L
