Anderson trade to annoy people

Created by: JeffGorton
Team: 2022-23 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 17, 2022
Published: Jun. 17, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Torts was just hired by Philly and Torts love Anderson. Philly is also an awful org so this trade actually has a chance of happening.

Petry is probably going to Dallas. Has 21 points in his last 29 games. And was a borderline elite player in 2020-2021. Those 40 games under Ducharme should be taken with a grain of salt.

Hoffman needs to be thrown into the sun. As a Habs fan, id be willing to trade multiple mid round picks

Shane Wright should be the 1st overall pick and one of Nemec or Jiricek with the 5th pick. Wright should be sent back to the OHL and let him dominate.

Rangers need a cheap 2nd line center. They cant afford to keep both Kakko and Lafreniere and acquire any 2nd line center. Their best move is to trade for a cheap one and use Kakko in the trade instead of letting him be offer sheeted for 4.2 million and only gaining a 2nd in compensation.

It is confirmed that the Habs wont know about Price's condition until training camp, but my best guess is hes gonna be sent to Robidas island until his deal is up. This is why Allen wont be traded until the deadline.

Ylonen should be the only player from our system called up. Let the rest dominate in their leagues or move them up to the AHL.

Only missing a RHD which could be acquire via Offer sheet of Timothy Liljegren. Habs will have money to spend so a 4.2x 3 yr deal will only cost us a 2023 2nd rounder. If the Leafs match, you offer sheet Sandin right after for the same deal.

Trade Deadline will be fun with Drouin, Dadonov, Allen, Byron all being dealt. 3 of them will be retained 50% and the other will have to be a 3rd team to retain for us.

Hoping for good seasons from Gallagher, Edmundson and Armia so they can be dealt for good assets at the next draft.

Dallas declines. Maybe if you gave us a pick in return even a low one. Hard to bring in 6.25 mil for a 34 year old and give up our #2 prospect.

JVR makes only $1.5M more than Josh Anderson, is on an expiring deal, and actually scored more than Josh Anderson did last year. If anything Philly passes because Anderson/#27/#60 is getting less value back than they would by keeping #5 and flipping out JVR 50% retained at the deadline.

JVRs goals were garbage tip ins. Every Philly fan ive ever interacted with wants him thrown into the sun. Its like Hoffman. He scores but thats about it. Sucks at everything else

And JVR's only overpaid for one more year instead of 5 - I'm not sure of your point? A team acquiring JVR at the deadline isn't necessarily going to be concerned with his age as a pending UFA, they're just going to be concerned with his production. I feel pretty confident if he plays at a 20-25 goal pace again this year Philly can flip him out for a pick and a prospect with full retention, maybe a little less if they have to rope in a 3rd team to double retain. I don't think they're going to be looking at him as this huge negative asset when he's been scoring at a consistent 25 goal pace the past 4 years and is in his walk year.

Why would the Sabres want him? They're building a team. Maybe 5OA.

Sabres need forwards since Quinn isnt ready yet. Hoffmans got 2 years left so they trade him 2023 tdl for picks.

quinn scored 61 points in 45 AHL games and followed it up with 2 points in his 2 NHL games, what makes you think he's not ready yet?

They are concerned about no matter how many goals he scores, hes still a liabilty on the ice. Theres more to hockey than just scoring goals. He has negative value at 7.5 and will continue to until he is paid the vet minimum

Followed it up with 2 point in 10 ahl playoff games. Played vs laval and seeing him play, i know hes not ready yet. Needs another year or 2 dominating

Ah yes that 10 game sample size. Did you also notice how many of those games teams focused on trying to shut Quinn down? Did you notice how Peterka was switched to a different line to take advantage of the focus teams put onto Quinn? The kid didn't accidentally score 61 points in 45 games.

Why trade for a bad one. 5OA. That's a different story.

Torts loves Anderson so much he traded him for Max Domi's signing rights.

Because he saw Hoffman for one season and realizes he's a horrible hockey player. Just wants to dump him on a team cheaply.

That is great and all but Montreal is rebuilding not contending, therefor if JVR is included it is as a cap dump. Montreal has no use for JVR other than to help facilitate a trade for the Flyers. If he is included the package going to Philly will be slightly less.

Philadelphia also *should* be a rebuilding team (to be fair I don't think anyone up to and including their front office knows what their plan is) so if I was in charge of them I would pass on this deal and keep #5 and whatever I can get for JVR at the deadline. Doesn't make sense for a rebuilding team to be adding a 28 year old on a big contract.

Yall paid a 1st rounder for Risto then doubled down and resigned him for double his worth. Philly could trade Couts for a 3rd and id believe it

LOL I agree they *should* be but I also believe I read that Fletcher said they were retooling not rebuilding. Personally I hate the retool idea, it never works out, just look at my Habs over the last 10-20 years lol.

Chuck Fletcher is the gift that keeps on giving for everyone outside Philadelphia - I cannot wait to see how he decided to top "#14 and next year's 2nd for Rasmus Risotlainen" this summer!!

I don't chuck fletcher is the one making decisions at this point. Flyers are completely irrelevant in Phildelphia at this point. Ownership won't let them blow it up and lose even more fans in the short term regardless if it's what's best in the long term. Also, youre kidding yourself if you dont think Bobby Clarke and Paul Holmgren, etc still have a say in the front office. Risto is the exact player those old fossils in the front office think is a good player in today's game. Until Clarke and the rest of the old boys club die, because they're not retiring, the flyers will continue to be stuck in the past.

I'm not the biggest Risto fan, but I think guys like Holmgren and Clarke should have a voice in personnel. Not the ultimate decider, but some influence. Holmgren build some good teams during his time with Philadelphia, kinda went out badly with Bryz signing but the Richards and Carter trades were homeruns. Risto is a good skater and plays physically, something the Flyers need. I wouldn't advocate for brining back the bullies but someone like Anderson would be a guy I'd like to get. Time to move on from the soft players.

I'd be fine with Risto if they traded some mid round pick for him not a 1st and 2nd rounder for a player with objectively bad stats. I'd be fine if they resigned him for one or two million dollars to play on the third pair. Not a 5x5 for a guy who clearly isn't a top 4 D. You can add physicality and grit without paying a premium for it. I think Clarke and Holgrem are way out of touch with today's game. The team has been terrible for a decade plus. Those old alumni still having a say are a denominator of it. I don't care if players are soft so long as they're good. That's what the flyers need, good players. Not players who would of been good in the 90s.
