Jason Botterill Comes in HOT (STL)

Created by: NeedTheCleanser
Team: 2017-18 Buffalo Sabres
Initial Creation Date: May 7, 2017
Published: May 7, 2017
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
St Louis cannot match that offer sheet for Parayko, no if ands or buts about it. Plus, in Buffalo he would probably become the top D on the team so when his 2nd RFA comes around he can cash in. Luckily for Buffalo that also occurs when Bogo comes off the books so it makes sense. Plus the compensation is meager for him (2018 1st and 3rd). Please Blues fans chip in let me know how they could possibly match this.
----
I would put Kane on Jack's wing and watch him score 30 G and deal him at the deadline for a 1st to replenish the 1st given for Parayko. I just don't see him re-signing in Buffalo w/o Murray being here
----
TRADE LINUS ULLMARK SO YOU FORCE VEGAS TO TAKE TYLER ENNIS. Calgary gets a good long term G prospect for a 3rd line center thats UFA in a year. I think they could totally bite this.
-----
Ideally you want Vegas to take Moulson bc Ennis' contract is more buyout friendly, but Ennis is younger and has higher upside. Moulson at this point is a defensive forward with PP upside
----
Give Jack 8 x7.75M this offseason and anticipate bridging Samson at 2x2.5M. Even if they dont deal Kane their is still plenty of room w Stajan coming off

Blues trade a pick to Vegas to take Lehtera, deal Berglund or Sobotka (even Steen) and the money works. That's how the Blues match the deal.

Sabres could just protect Ullmark and expose Lehner

I think many Sabre fans have been drinking water from the Love Canal. It's affecting judgement. Blues will have the money for Parakyo. And certainly that offer would not be accepted by Parakyo. Probably 20 other teams would do better.
The Vegans are signing UFAs. They certainly don't have the cap space or inkling to take on crappy players/contracts just because some teams like the Sabres don't want them. Vegas would prefer to claim a AHL veteran, place him in the minors, without a cap hit then take on Ennis or Moulsen. Jason Botterill knows the rules of Vegas expansion. Too bad Sabres fans don't. Vegas is NOT forced to Ennis. Gee, where do you make up this stuff?

I'd assume Carrier gets taken. He'd be the best upside available

Shibbal: Since Vegas has the same cap restrictions as any other team they have to wise on who they pick. For instance, the Leafs might expose veterans Bozak, Komarov who have only 1 year left on their contract. But I think the Vegans might take 600,000 Leivo who has more controllable years and maybe some upside. And if they sent him to the minors, it's not a cap hit.
Remember Vegas is selecting 30 players, they all better not be on high NHL salaries, especially when it looks they are in the mood to sign high priced UFAs like the Russians.

If not Carrier Vegas could take Cal O'Reilley, Kea and there are a few other minor leaguers. Please folks don't get confused by the games remaining scenario laid out in the Cap Friendly. Many long term AHLers are still eligible to be drafted.

#1 in this scenario Carrier gets protected. They protect ROR/KO/Kane/Foligno/ Larsson/ Carrier/ Girgensons. That leaves moulson/gio/ ennis to choose from for forwards. Ennis is 20 goal scorer when healthy and is probably one of the most skilled players available to be taken. It doesn't "force" them to do anything it just really really takes away some of their options.

Jbarre6: You are COMPLETELY misreading who is Vegas can select... Sabres can protect the players you mention which would leave Ennis, Moulsen Deslaurieus, Grant, Kea and Schneider as forwards that could be selected by Vegas. Again Sabres fans seem to think that its only Moulson and Ennis.....WRONG. And if Ennis is such good value, the Sabres should protect him.
More than likely the Vegans take a minor league who they they can bury, and take Ennis money 4.6m and spend it a real hockey player. Vegas cannot draft 30 players of overpriced 4.6m players and expect to be at a 75m cap. It shouldn't be that hard to figure.
