Bs fan take on Minnys offseason

Description
I can't see Minnesota making many moves outside of a fiala trade, they had a strong last season and i think with their new 3rd line they will come back even stronger, i think that line will be a very high producing offensive line.

2022 draft
1st Rd 2 picks
13OA: Option 1: Frank Nazar/ Nazar would be the dream pick if he falls to them he's a two way reliable center that brings good speed and has a knack for scoring in multiple ways. Minnesota also has a lack of RH forwards.
Option 2: Brad Lambert/ Lambert is another RH Center that minnesota is in need of. Lambert could be one of the biggest steals of this years draft he has all the potential and skill in the world but he just couldn't produce in the Liiga, maybe his game will translate better in NA.
Option 3: Trikozov/Miroshnichenko/ If both the RH centers i listed above are off the board by the time Minnesota's selection is up i think they will move more towards one of these 2 wingers. Kaprizov has shown them that even if they potentially have to wait a little longer for the russian prospects to comeover they can be well worth the wait. both wingers are RH, it just comes down to whether Minnesota wants a physical power forward like player in Miroshnichenko or whether they want a high IQ 2 way player that has no true weakness in his offensive skill set in Trikozov

24OA:
This one is easy if Minnesota targets a RH forward with their first pick since i would say that is currently their biggest weakness, their next biggest weakness is RHD. in my opinion they have 4 options and that selection all comes down to what their future plans are with Addison and Dumba.
1. Ryan Chesley: 2way dman with a hard point shot, defensive game will translate better to the NHL but will have solid base tools to work with in the NHL
2. Seamus Casey: He's a smaller puck moving defencemen who's game will most likely translate well to a teams PP1, he will need to patch some wholes on the defensive side of his game but that could come with some added strength and weight
3. Tristan Luneau: Very mobile two way defenceman with good size at 6'2 190. Will be able to contribute in many ways including PP and PK in my personal opinion i think he will be one of the steals of the draft
4. Maveric Lamoureax: Most likely his offensive game won't be a highlight in the NHL, but at 6'7 200lbs he's hard not to want. plays a very strong defensive game and always plays to his size. i think he has the lowest ceiling out of the bunch but also the highest floor, i could see him being in a bottom pair within 2 seasons and being a solid PK specialist, still has potential to be a number 4 hard nosed defensive dman though.

Nicely done...I kinda like this I would change some parts but wouldn't be disappointed if this is next years roster. Maybe try and find a different option instead of Holtby and I am not sure if Bjugstad is offered a contract here but maybe BG re-signs him. I could also see Dean rotating Goose, Addison and Merrill throughout the season.

i think it could go either way. you have to remember a lot of NYI's players are in their prime and nearing the end of it like Nelson, Lee, Palmieri, The identity line. Plus there is a chance Isles won't be able to afford or outbid teams with mayfield needing a new extension. Barzal is gonna eat a lot of cap with his next extension aswell. though pelech and pulock are still decently young at 27 their best days are the next 3-4 seasons. I do believe Isles are in a win now situation they will have their time again later on once barzal, dobson, sorokin are all in their primes but if they don't fully commit now they risk wasting a lot of their players best seasons. Fiala is killing it right now and spent a lot of time playing with 3rd liners in previous seasons, look what happened when he actually got a skilled linemate in Boldy he posted over PPG numbers he would easily replicate those numbers with Barzal. I think wahlstrom is still about a year or 2 away from being a huge difference maker and nazar most likely 2-4 years away.

Palmieri , Mayfield and the worst 4th line in hockey shouldn’t be factored in when discussing a trade for a player. The isles need young players, especially young players on ELCs. I think the isles are the furthest thing from a win now team. The window is closed and they need to focus on integrating young players into the lineup.

I see Nazar on a Seth Jarvis trajectory. He’s a one and done at Michigan and he has a game that will translate well to the NHL

Honestly if this trade happened I hope it would look worse than the Toews trade for the isles. Eventually the isles need to stop treating top of the lineup young players and 1st rd picks as expendable assets

I think isles still have something left in the tank they dealt with a lot of covid **** and injuries this year. they played what maybe 20 games with a full line-up and they played pretty darn good, if they would have had 40 games with a full lineup they would have most likely made playoffs with the trajectory they were on the last bit of the season.

Trotz is gone now so most likely wahlstrom, bellows, aho etc will get the play time they deserved but you also got remember is Lou likes to win he isn't a rebuilding type of GM he's not like yzerman who goes through the whole rebuild, retool, compete process, Lou is that guy that manages teams that win so i wouldn't be surprised if he went out there and made a move like this, his head could be on the chopping block next if they don't do well this next season.

Every team deals with Covid and injuries. The isles roster just wasn’t good enough and also Trotz burying young players didn’t help.

Lou also doesn’t trade his own draft picks so I can’t see Wahlstrom being traded. If Lou makes a trade similar to this where he throws away futures in a desperation move hopefully they miss the playoffs so then the isles can start either rebuilding or re-tooling. I hate the philosophy of win-now to get older players, actual Stanley cup contenders don’t make those kind of moves. It will suck to root against the islanders next season but I’m not on board with mortgaging the future. Isles are in no position to do that
