Why would the Devils do that trade? Samsonov was a sub .900 goalie....why trade a 21yr that can develop and move back 45 spots or whatever in the draft to grab that?

$18 million is a lot of retention to eat.

i wonder what florida would give up to dump bob no retention, they have no 1st for a while so it would have to be players and prospects. reinhart could be an option but how many teams got 16.5 mill in cap to spare, Arizona and buffalo? buffalo won't take reinhart back he clearly hated it there, and ari has no need to acquire players that make them better just yet.

nause, samsokevich, sourdif and denisenko are all good prospects but hell it would take atleast 3 of them in the package to take Bob's contract maybe all of them

to me the only option they have is pairing Lundell with Bobrovsky and maybe sending them to buffalo and they could potentially get like krebs back since Lundell looks to be on that tract of being a Bergeron esce player

I feel Florida would be willing to take a player or 2 back with a decent size contract as well but for less years. I don’t see a situation where they don’t retain at least 25% of Bob’s contract.

I would be cool w leaving him out all together. Just trying to get a feel for what a reasonable ask would be

TRUE. That being said Bob has 40m left on his deal w some massive bonuses and a NMC. I imagine any cap you can free up would be a massive W

He has a NMC and it would probably cost more than a great prospect to move 40m for a good goalie. I mean you could to a similar risk on Mrázek and it’ll cost you a fraction of the money and term. FLa needs to retain and pay up.

Bob at 7.25m is still a lot of money. Money you could spend elsewhere or on a better goalie.

ya but buffalo has 40 mill in cap and in the next 2 years the only big players they need to resign is thompson, cozens and samuelsson.
thompson if he can replicate a similar season to what he did this year will get about 6-7 mill
cozens will get like a 3-5 mill bridge deal
samuelsson probably 2-3 mill bridge deal.

they also get rid of girgensons, okposo and bjork's contracts which is over 9mill.

for the next 5 years the only guys they will potentially having make over 7 mill is thompson, Dahlin and skinner.

so i think it would be a very smart for them to offer up krebs for Lundell and bobrovsky no retention maybe florida adds a little more like another one of their top 4 prospects.
Bob gives them a stop gap goalie for one of their prospects to rise up, he also will help them compete more as that seems to be in the direction they want to head in no more tanking, also helps them reach the cap floor. Plus they get their franchise center in Lundell.

they would have a core of Lundell, Dahlin, Power, Samuelsson, Thompson, Quinn, Tuch, Peterka, Cozens, Rosen, 9OA and 16OA selections. like once they get over skinner and bobrovsky's contract it will be just in time to get all their extensions out most those guys still being on bridge deals and they will have a future dynasty team if all their top prospects and players turn out and at this moment all their guys are developing very nicely.

You really think Bob waives his NMC for Buffalo though?

It has already been widely reported that the Panthers are willing to retain up to 50% to move bob. Considering how much of a risk he is even at 5.5m as well as the massive cap relief it gives FLA (and the real dollar savings with his huge signing bonuses) I would want much more to take back bob than denisenko. The Leafs overpaid dumping a year of Marleau at 6m for a 1st, so the caps clearly wont get four firsts equivalent for taking him, but I would want one of bennet, lundell, weegar, duclair to take back that contract

If that’s the case, Florida would most likely give up Bennett. I think Florida would get more for Weegar in a separate deal. Not certain that Florida trades Duclair but might if the price tag is right. No chance they trade Lundell.

im not gonne lie after that first season in florida bobrovsky didn't even look like he cared about hockey. He got his money i wouldn't be surprised if he played just about anywhere he will still be getting paid big bucks.

If all he cares about is money he'd probably want to stay in a state without income taxes, right?
