I have a feeling that Washington might want Florida to retain a little more and give up a better pick.

If Sergei Bobrovsky were to waive, I think Washington would be his logical destination.

No chance. I mean zero that Washington takes Bob at 8m without the Panthers giving up a major asset. Jensen and montour wash each other out imo so it’s basically Bob for a 5th at 8m for Vanecek and a 3rd. This is a terrible move for Washington. Fla massively improves its cap situation while gaining better or equal players and GAINING BETTER PICKS. Madness

That or Colorado (cup contender with a ton of cap).

So we are still paying a prospect. Hardly matter bc the trade is terrible. Washington gives up the better players and picks. Why not keep Vanecek and Jensen and the 3rd? We would have more cap and the better players? This is basically franchise suicide

Az eats 8 million without getting a pick higher than a 3rd is also unlikely. Fla needs to retain 40-50% and give up a prospect or 2.

I'm sorry, but Bobrovsky is better than Vanecek, and Montour is better than Jensen. I'm not sure why you seem to think the opposite...

Interesting. Bob isn’t better he’s 33 making 10m. He’s coming off a good year but his previous 2 seasons have been lackluster. Not really sure how you think he’s better or why the capitals would take on his contract without a massive return. Jensen and montour are equals imo. Jensen was part of our best d pairing last year. I wouldn’t move him for Montour. Maybe Weegar but not hard to understand laterally moving while gaining cap is dumb.

It's amazing that people don't read 2 millimeters away from what they flip out about

Vanecek's more valuable than Bob at 6M for four more years. Jensen's better than Montour on a cheaper contract, so he's easily more valuable too (also not actually available, he's an elite PKer and was great on the Caps shutdown pairing, so he's an amazing value for 2.5M/year and they don't have anyone to replace what he brings). Caps shouldn't be the ones adding here.

Why are the caps giving up the best goalie, best defenseman, and best pick in that trade?
