As a Wings fan i'd do Jared McIsaac and the Caps #52 pick for Jeff Petry @ $5,000,000 x 3 years but nothing any better.

As a wings fan, I’d give not a dime more than a 4th round pick and if we were closer to contending, maybe a 3rd.

I’m praying the Red Wings stay far away from him and that contract. Old & overpaid. Good player, tho.

I won't lie, as a Stars fan I wouldn't even be the slightest bit interested in acquiring Petry unless both Suter and Faksa were going back the other way. So a trade would have to include those two but Montreal likely wouldn't do that.

Nothing. Not a good time to make this trade, continue to build with a deep 23 draft.

And you and i know that Ryan Suter would never waive for any Canadian team especially Montreal.

Hughes saying that they won't use futures to move him doesn't exactly scream that hes indemand or that they expect a big return. Its basically saying give us something and you can have him.

MTL retains a quarter of Petry's salary ($1,562,500), Dallas offers Khudobin, Gleason and two seconds.

You give a prospect and a second round pick for Petry at his lowest value in years? Montreal will take that and run

Kent Hughes is delusional, Without retention he will need to include sweeteners to move Jeff Petry. He's doesn't have tons of value around the league. He will be 35 in early December making $6,250,000 x 3 years most sane GMs don't think that's good value unless he can up around 40 to 50 points per season these next 3 years or so.

This is the reason he hasn't been dealt already; no one will meet his price. Also weird how Yzermans is considered to be the most tight lipped GM in the NHL yet he keeps letting it leak out that he's interested in Petry...

Even though I'm inclined to agree with your valuation, there's likely going to be some dumb GM who will pay a fortune for him to risk something. It happens way too often.

I'm extremely annoyed by some Habs fans who apparently think this way in pretty much every potential trade there is, aftereffect of that Chiarot trade.

Yup if Jeff Petry was a desirable player he wouldn't still be in Montreal right now. But Kent Hughes still thinks he'll get a kings ransom for him. Like i said he's totally delusional if he thinks that Petry has tons of value. Sure if he retains 50% on him he might get something decent for him but not at full value.

I know we agreed that Hughes is delusional but Montreal won't keep 3125000$ for the next 3 years for a player that won't play for them

I think for $5,000,000 x 3 years it would be okay, It would definitely be an overpay if it was the full value of $6,250,000 x 3 years.

If this had been a year ago, when Detroit actually needed a RD, Petry could have been an option. This year he's not interesting unless there's payment for taking on his contract.

I think it's important to find a solid, veteran RHD to pair with Edvinsson so I'd be fine with acquiring Petry in a deal similar to the one Tampa proposed. I'd actually like to find a solid, veteran LHD to pair with Seider as well...it's insane how good he was this past year playing with the guys that were his partners. Putting the young, building blocks in the best position to succeed should be a high priority.

It's my honest opinion that Yzerman will start all the kids in GR next season. In any case, if you go by current ability, Albert Johansson is ahead of Edvinsson on the depth chart in all metrics + experience.

Wings aren’t interested in paying for Petry. Could be interested in a cap dump scenario. If you’re looking for someone to pay assets for him, Ken Holland has draft picks he’s dying to trade.
