For sure, if one leaves, they both leave.
But they just made it the conference finals, yeah they get swept by the Avs, but I don't think there's any shame in that. They are primed for good seasons to come.

They go on a heater against non contender Calgary to immediately get extinguished by COL. EDM is primed for the playoffs but they’re are not primed for a contention yet. They are lucky they didn’t have to play CAR,NYR,STL,TOR,TBY,FLA,WSH in my opinion (only opinion though).
