Backstrom and Alexeyev news

Description
While not 100% confirmed, looks from the update the caps put out today that Backstrom will be done for the year at least. There will definitely be at least one big move in FA or trade to renew the top nine, don't think any option is off the table. Alexeyev will also be out for the first couple of months of the season, so Johansen and Nardella will be competing for that 6d spot. This makes it more likely IMO that a veteran 6/7d is signed. Finally, goalie remains an issue that they will have to address in some way. Wilson is on LTI to account for needing his cap hit when he comes back, before then a couple of hershey guys will probably be on the roster to give some depth options.

So would I. I think the cost would just be too prohibitive for both the trade and the contract. Schiefle is up in 2 years two, so gives a little more flexibility for the future

I can't see Winnipeg being overly interested in that deal. They would probably get the same for Scheifele as a pure rental in 2 years and not get stuck with Eller.

Yea it really sucks that he won't get the sendoff he deserves. A HoF player imo and definitely the second best cap ever

They're only stuck with eller, a fine 3c at a 3.5m cap hit, for one more year. Just threw him in to make the salary work, but could easily be taken out and moved for a third or fourth to another team. And I doubt that they would get more than 20oa plus a top center prospect trading him as a rental

Yeah, I guess the could live with Eller for a year, but there's not enough here to make the Jets consider it.

As a rental the minimum price for Scheifele would be a 1st and a prospect, then if you add in that Scheifele is a consistent PPG 1C, it's not hard to see that prospect becoming a top prospect from whatever team, considering the competition that would arise.

So, I don't see this offer being enough to tempt the Jets to move Scheifele 2 seasons early.

It's going to be a 2nd for Reimer, a 3rd for Hill. Reimer has put up excellent numbers the last few years and is on a very team friendly deal. a 3rd simply won't get him.
