Probably a fair trade for Kane. But he still seems like more of a luxury than a necessity.

If I were to move Kakko, it would be for help down the middle. Especially to fortify that 2C spot.

I *think* the Isles do that, though they may try and convince you to take Beau+Raty instead of Wahlstrom. I'm also not sure why you (the Blackhawks) need Varly

Don't think the Leafs are a good fit for a Toews trade. The incentive for them would be to get a 2C in order to move Tavares to the wing, give him less to worry about as his play deteriorates due to age. Toews is Tavares just a few years later down the same path. His play is already declining, no real reason to push him on the wing when they'll want Tavares there sooner or later.

Toews is a 3C so can't see him getting a 1st. I also think that would be an overpayment for Kane.

Toews 3C.

The Leafs aren't in a position to be paying a 3C 5 mil AAV, or to be paying a 1st + more for a 3rd team to retain for one.

I don't like Toews, as he is probably the most overrated player in the league. I certainly don't like him playing 3c at 5 mil at the price of a 1st.

No it's not, Kane is still a super star player. Teams will pay the premium for him, since he'll bring in alot of money through merchandise sales and what he adds to a team.

ahhh, Toews really isn't overrated. I think everyone recongized that he's declined and no-one is rating him higly anymore.

If they want to get over the hump then they’ll need a star who has won it all.

I think Toews will regain some respect next season. I’d trade a late first for that kind of a presence if it meant my team could get over the hump.

How about the Hawks take Mrazek too?

Kane doesn’t fix the awful team defense they played all playoffs. He’s not out there a full 60 minutes to fix all the five on five scoring issues. That’s a bad take. No individual player will put them over the hump. They need to collectively improve.

His veteran experience will help them do all of that. He will greatly improve their 5v5 scoring on his own.

One player doesn’t win a cup. It’s as simple as that. Otherwise guys like Gretzky and Lemieux would’ve won a lot more. And Kane isn’t on either of those levels. The Rangers just had their first experience. So long as they continue to develop and can build on it with the young guys taking steps forward they’ll be fine. It’s reckless to start making silly all in moves to force it at this point. The window of contention is only just beginning in spite of the cap.

Maybe, but I’d rather he try to do it with a different team, it’s too big a risk.

That might work but then I’m not sure the hawks would do it.
